Morsy 21:23 - Apr 2 with 1958 views | itfc_bucks | Love the bloke, absolutely adore him, speaks well, speaks from the heart, clearly would bleed for the club, but time has caught him. Too slow for this level and isn't ever going to get quicker. Important summer.

With Kalvin returning, and assuming we don’t go for Cajuste, how many CM’s do we need? Will Massimo come back in? Will Taylor be a regular starter?

Massimo is not getting any younger either. [Post edited 2 Apr 21:32]

Not having a go at him but as the season has gone on, mother time has caught up with him. Need to be giving Taylor game time, considering he is going to be the only one of our central midfielders to play a significant part next season. Morsy won't get any quicker. Morsy on 21:36 - Apr 2 with 1643 views | Swansea_Blue | We’re not going to be having difficult decisions in the summer to reshape our midfield for this level. So it’s not an issue at all. We could do with a similar player though to help deal with that long slog of a season in the Championship.

| They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. Not out of his depth - but didn’t hear him mentioned on comms tonight. We need someone there to drive us forward and sadly he’s no longer doing that | |

Luongo often looked on the edge last season imo - just quick enough to still be very effective. I wonder if he's the wrong side of the line now. I like Taylor but he was a little sloppy when he arrived and is a little sloppy to this day. It's magnified in the PL for sure, but I'd be more confident seeing him as 3rd or 4th choice. I don't see a world in which Humphreys returns from his Wycombe loan to slot into our starting midfield. He didn't get a sniff last year; we looked to loan cover in Lewis Travis instead when stretched midway through. I do see a world in which Morsy continues to start regularly for us. He's very much on the edge at PL level, which isn't a bad place to be in fitness or pace. Two CMs incoming to replace the two heading out imo, unless I've misjudged where Luongo is.

Thought Kalvin was worse, at least Morsy retained the ball a few times. Jack will get more game time next year and has the potential to improve. Massimo ( like Morsy ) has his best times behind him. We need to go all out to get two midfielders that can hold up the ball. We could not retain possession for the last 15 mins of that game and a better team would have beaten us at the end. That has been our Achilles heel all season.

Critical that we sign three quality CMs. Phillips, Luongo and Cajuste won't be here next year and Morsy ought to be relegated the Luongo-cameo role. Hurts to say it, but it's inevitable.

IF we are relegated, I think Morsy will still be one of the best defensive midfielders in the Championship next season. He hit his prime late and the result is that he doesn't have the athleticism required for premier league football, but he looks after the ball extremely well. With the extra yard of space in the Championship I think he's still a very decent option. [Post edited 2 Apr 22:16]
