I really like Jack Clarke's interview. 07:55 - Apr 19 with 2339 viewsNthQldITFC

Unsurprisingly, given our recruitment strategy, he comes across as a really humble and self-effacing bloke. He's also obviously a player who has shown really good improvements lately and is learning his role well here. I think he'll be a hell of a player for us next season and beyond. Wouldn't mind him beefing up a bit for the future, but that's maybe the benefit of a year in the second division.

I wonder if Sunderland will try to resign him if they're promoted.

Understandably he was desperate to join us so he could play in the PL, but a bit like O'Shea I wouldn't be surprised if he jumped ship if he's given another opportunity by a promoted club.

I did wonder that myself - but I think that if we get off to a good/ great start both players will stay or wait until Christmas.

It'll be frustrating if we essentially end up giving players like those two Prem practice.

I'd like them here.

With parachute payments and the assumed sale of Delap and probably Omari for c.£50-£60m I don’t see why we’d need to sell Clarke.

Its not impossible but I think it's unlikely. One of the main reasons they were prepared to let him him go and we got quite a good deal on him was they had Watson and Mundle coming through. Mundle was their best player for the first half of the season until injury and Watson who is very young but starting games now was subject of big interest in Jan and would likely cost at least as much as Clarke as very highly rated. I think they will probably spend their money in other positions as assume they will keep Watson if they go up.

Having said that they will probably want some more experience but I don't think Clarke will want to go back either.

Don’t need to sell for financial reasons but players do want to play in the Premier League. Plus if players want a move it’s hard to keep them.

Sunderland trying to resign him would be purely emotional, with respect to JC I think he’s a good player but he’s hardly shown himself to be PL quality.

Watson has already agreed to join Brighton.

If they go up via the playoffs, a possibility but I wouldn’t do it for less than 5M profit (even with season he has had). We don’t need to sell.

We're screwed ....

Haha joking. Ah I knew they bid but thought it was out of until the summer rather than done. Pray Mundle recovers from his injury issues.

Jeez I'd be frustrated with owners if I was a Sunderland fan! That's dreadful.

I think a bit like Philogene i think they both need to stay another year and get some consistent game time.

Agree.
He has struggled somewhat in the league, but looked like a different player against Coventry.

Think he’ll really push on with us next season.
