He’s had a tough year. His greatest strength was always playing high and going forward, which when we haven’t been on the front foot a tone takes a fair bit away from his game. He’s been up against world class opposition nearly weekly but it must be admit, I haven’t seen much progression in his defending and he’s had some bad moments like today and at Fulham as well as lack of concentration.

100% correct but 95% of our fans are blinkered. He has cost us so many games.

Delap aside, are any of our players of this level?

Axel, Cajuste I'd say are. O'Shea at a push. Hutchinson approaching it.

There’s some individuals that could slot into PL starting teams. The squad though isn’t particularly close as we’ve seen and I do think overall some of the recruitment is still in question for the money spent.

Cajuste and Delap and that’s it.

I mean based on what we have seen this season, he fits in with a large number of the group - very high standard Championship players, not at PL level at the moment.

No shame in that.

Not for those who were at the club last year. Those who we brought in at great expense...

The gap between the Prem league top 17 and Championship is massive. You have to play at 110% and hope the other side has an off day. Also hope that every small call goes for you plus an injury free season for all players. We will never know if the team that took us up plus maybe a max of two top players and one chancer (Delap) would have given us a better chance of staying up.

In a better team he shines but for us in the PL you are going to need to be able to defend

We'd have been better off with a bigger more physically left back in the Prem I suspect, almost a left footed Axel ultimately

If Sean Dyche was our manager, he'd set us up like that, scary as that might sound

I wouldn't be surprised if he is someone we would consider as a swap for McKenna

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

He was signed for £1m. What’s your point?

Can’t be that bad, we brought 100M+ worth of players from there!

Ok that’s tongue in cheek, the EFL clearly has some talent that can hopefully develop into good players in the PL. To bridge the gap quicker though, the scouts need to get their passports out.

I wish we had seen Townsend at LB and Davis at LW at least one this season. It'd allow Davis to provide attacking support with someone backing it up. No idea if it would have worked, mind you.

Why oh why support the Town , you odd balls perk up every game , obviously not at the stadium…..get yourself a hobby , preferably up the A140 .

I'd have definitely done that this season and I'd have definitely put Delap on the wing at times as well

McKenna has been naive imho but there you go, it's all a learning process, hopefully he does a good job of yoyoing us next season
