It was the Brighton game which screwed us over. That and whatever McKenna was trying against Manchester City where we laid down and had our collective tummy tickled.

So with 10 men, you can kind of understand being cut through with goals etc. We haven't. We've been done by 2 corners. An area we definitely need to improve. On the plus side, from open play, presumably we've been defensively OK?

Does being a player short not affect the ability to defend a set piece as well?

Only if they bring every player up.....which I doubt they are.

Know this is tongue in cheek but pretty sure the Manchester City punishment is being held back until next year.

I really thought we had a chance to stay up on 17:01 - Apr 26 with 1501 views | Axeldalai_lama | It's all disappointing, obviously, but can we just see it as the strength of other teams telling, bigger squads better players, injuries, and lack of time, not to mention overall funds, to adapt, rather than as some sort of massive mistake and failure we try to pin on certain people or a group of people. We failed, we're disappointed we go again. Doesn't mean there was a clear and obvious path we coulda woulda shoulda taken. Heads up, learn from it, plan for the next two seasons and we crack on with our eyes wide open.

I don't think anyone knows, outside of the parties involved. Would be great if it was one day before we relinquish our premier league share.

There was huge change in mentality that seemed to really kill our belief. We went to a super low-block yet seemed to give up more chances and conceded more goals - and ultimately lose all confidence.

This will be the overriding finding but we should still recognise there were things we could should have done differently in a number of areas. It’s all too late for any to make a difference and they may not have at the time either but at least knowing what these things are and considering them allows better more considered decisions in future. Leadership, behind the scenes, coaches, players, training, pre game and in game, post game, transfers approach. All these things have viable points we might do differently given the same or similar circumstances in future.

So there is no difference between defending the same number of attackers with 1 fewer defender? Odd take.

Oh absolutely 100 percent agree with you. But that's exactly what I mean. There are many small improvements to be made for future plans and over the summer for recruiters etc etc. I was specifically meaning those fans who moan and moan and moan about us being a mess and getting it all wrong and it all should have been so different. To me that helps nobody and breeds a culture of moaning for the sake of it. But completely agree we should use the whole season to learn a multitude of lessons for the club going forward.

So you down voted it and came back an hour later to reply. Really odd. It's not difficult to understand so its not an odd take. If they bring 8 players forward, you have enough players to mark them. It's much easier to concede from open play? People on here are like a dog with a bone and become unbearable. You know what I'm saying, you don't have to agree. It's not an odd take if you think about it. That's it from me now.

So they always bring 8 players forward for a corner. We normally defend it with 9 plus the keeper leaving 1 up. They then persist with leaving 2 covering defenders for our 1 player on the break. We now have 8 players to defend the corner instead of 9. How is that just as effective? Sorry for not being permanently on here to reply instantly. I simply downvoted to show that I disagreed but then decided I would comment to clarify. It just seems obvious to me that 1 player shorter will make it tougher to defend. We could still have 9 back in which case they would surely push an extra player forward wouldn't they? Why leave 2 back against 0? EDIT: and it's rather ironic that you downvoted my reply and then 15 minutes later replied to it too! [Post edited 26 Apr 20:32]
