Most confident going into a new season? 16:49 - Apr 30 with 3039 views | Nutkins_Return | Obviously sad we've gone down but felt mentally prepared for it and decided just to enjoy this season as best as possible from the start (though that was a bit limited). But I am feeling really positive about next season. Maybe the most positive in years. Feel about on par with the build up to McKenna's first full L1 campaign. Just think the club and squad will be really well placed to get us back up again next season. How is everyone else feeling? (Talking about mentally preparing. Got to accept now we are going to lose players. Didn't stop Leeds, Burnley etc who lost their best players).

Yeah, that one always makes me laugh.

Most confident going into a new season? on 20:58 - Apr 30 by itfcsuth | There will be a different type of pressure next season. There will be an expectation from outside the club, along with some clowns within the fan base who will just expect us to romp everyone 4-0 each week. We will suddenly become teams ‘big’ games where everyone finds an extra %. We will also be on the other side of the financial capacity, where it is with £15m wingers starting, and £15m centre backs, with £15m players coming off the bench - which will be a narrative pushed by media and opposing managers. Different sort of pressure, KMc will know this, KMc I have no doubt will approach and handle appropriately, it’s how the players will react. |
I thought this too but quickly remembered we have already dealt with this in League One quite comfortably in the end. Of course the Championship is going to be much harder but with the quality of the squad and manager, we could be aiming for top 2. A big part of the job then for the coaching team and players is to manage that expectation.

Most confident going into a new season? on 06:28 - May 1 by Blue_Heath | Great advice and my mindset too, waiting to see what happens in the summer first before setting any expectations. I think there may well be a lot more turnover of players than people think and another summer of endless McKenna linked to every job up for grabs. |
Really? I think that sounds like a depressing way to live your life

Most confident going into a new season? on 18:28 - Apr 30 by MattinLondon | What with the money spent this season plus more investment next, I’m going to say that anything but automatic promotion will be failure. Plus, if we’re out of the top 6 by more than a few points at Christmas, KM will be lucky to keep hold of his job. |
While automatic promotion should be the minimum requirement, wouldn't it be greater to go up as Champions? I remember the last time and it was. At the end of next season it will be 34 years since we won a division. A generation and more of Town fans have never experienced that, yet.
| I was there when McKenna's ITFC won in the Premier League at Home. |

Have high expectations or wants - it might well not happen but at least you’ve tried and didn’t settle to just plod along. Never be scared of disappointment or failure in following your dreams - at least you’ve gave it a damn good go. Top two, no excuses. |
I didn’t say we wouldn’t try I just can imagine the blubfest on here if we don’t bounce straight back up. Top 2 would be of course great though! [Post edited 2 May 4:40]

Most confident going into a new season? on 18:53 - May 1 with 209 views | catch74 | It should be pretty entertaining. I’ve quickly collated goals and assists for previous Championship season (imagine includes cup goals) from attacking players, left out Delap as most likely off, Ogbene and Johnson not in the league that year Clarke. 15g 5a Szmodics 33 4 Philogene 12 6 Hutchinson 11 4 Hirst 7 7 (stays here and fit he’ll smash that) Burns 6 5 Chaplin 13 8 Broadhead 13 3 Davis 2 18 Think that’s 112 goals and 60 assists. Obviously will be changes in personnel but we’ll be adding another 1 or 2 up top, midfield and defence will contribute too. Could have Muric in goal! - makings of a very exciting season.
