Of course nobody has said ‘I don’t care if we lose as I’m here’. The OP comment is either a wind up or one that needs a rethink. As you point out, no need for anger. Personally, I’m very interested to hear peoples’ comments on visiting other grounds, their experiences of them, whether they had a good time or not. I can’t see anyone going with any other reason than to hopefully see the team win. I rarely go to away games now, hence my interest, but when I did back in the days of good music, rubbish products and great fashion (sort of) and cars that might not make it, I was always interested in the grounds; the experience, comparing to PR, the very journey - with the overriding hope we’d win. It was exciting and fun. I wish we’d done more of it, specifically northern clubs. [Post edited 6 May 7:53]

I have been to every away ground this season apart from Man Utd, and have found the grounds largely disappointing with a much poorer atmosphere than was the case when I visited many of them years ago. I suppose I expected more due to the hype surrounding the Premier League but the newer stadiums in particular seem to me rather soulless bowls often with many fans who appear to be "tourists". But I've still enjoyed every away trip, not least because of the pub before the game and the excellent support of our fans. And when we have got a result or come very close, it has been even better. We have only played Wrexham once, in a competitive game, and it isn’t a game Town fans who went remember with any fondness. Thirty years ago, as a Premiership club, we lost 2-1 away in FA Cup.

I agree that the atmosphere of a lot of PL grounds is pretty poor but that could be down to the fact that those clubs were playing us. Harder to generate an atmosphere when the opposition isn’t perceived to be that great. I also think that the phrase ‘soulless bowl’ is pretty meaningless.

There is something in that but some of our games have been fairly close, and there have been a few away games where we have taken the lead. In those circumstances I would have expected better home support, whatever the opposition. [Post edited 6 May 9:23]

Having said that, having been to a few games at Wembley, it simply doesnt have the same atmosphere as the old ground. I don't know if its weird acoustics or something but you just dont seem to get the noise levels of old Wembley. The old ground definitely produced a better atmosphere somehow.

One positive next season on 09:40 - May 6 with 160 views | DJR | Someone posted that there were still 701 tickets available for Leicester, which go on sale today for those with 10+ points. This suggests that, as well as the excitement of the Premier League, some of the increased demand for tickets this season was indeed for those whose first opportunity it was to visit a new ground. Leicester, of course, we played last season. And whilst relegation may have played a part, the same was true of Everton, where the tickets sold out more quickly. [Post edited 6 May 9:42]

The old Wembley had long been a dump & had awful viewing, because of the dreaded running track. The only thing in its favour was tradition - the twin towers etc. Probably not fair to compare the atmosphere because that has declined at pretty much every football game as a result of a very different fan base. The worst thing about the new Wembley is the bad perception created by having many of the Club Wembley seats, opposite the TV cameras, empty for much of the second half as the guzzlers prefer to get value from their free food & drink package & watch the second half on TV.
