In the Championship there will be much shorter spells where we under attack, and we still have all the defenders we had when we were promoted minus possibly Davis and/or Tuanzebe, with O'Shea, Townsend and Greaves on top.

No, agreed, attacking-wise we have an embarrassment of riches for the Championship - Sammie got 30 goals for Blackburn the season before last, then there's Broady, Chappers, Clarkey, Wes and Ogbene, Hutch if he stays. Jadon P. I think we might need an out-and-out striker as well, possibly two.
It's just the likes of Davis and Greaves have been found out a bit in the EPL and, if we're building for promotion straight back, do we stick or twist? Not sure if O'Shea stays. Or Axel T. Burgess has offers and we clearly don't seem in a rush to offer him a decent new contract. The keepers need looking at although I'd be happy with Palmer and Muric if they both are deemed sufficient.
Biggest factor is whether KM stays. But this is Ipswich as well. We never do straightforward. I think we'll be the strongest team (if everyone stays) in the Championship but there's always this nagging doubt somewhere that we might just overthink it in our eagerness for promotion. | |

I'm not worried about us not getting promoted again, cos we will..what worries me is what team we will be taking up with us......if its on the same balance as this current team, give or take a few players leaving,,or weaker..well then even with new recruits ..we will be only lambs to the slaughter ..and another basement battle for majority of the season...hopefully mckenna will have learned and build a far more robust team and better midfield plus a lot more firepower than what we have currently..the journey begins?? | | | |

There's no guarantee and it's a tough league..I hope our supporters realise and are patient. Had we finished top ten last season it would have been a nexcellent effort after league one. Next season there's obviously more expectation but top 6 would be solid. Obviously I hope we win the league and we should be top 2/3 but top 6 is okay.

Last year we needed everything to go perfectly for that promotion. No major injuries all season except Hirst and that came just before the January transfer window. And every time one of the usual starters was missing we looked weaker, so that was crucial.
Also, last year we had a crazy amount of passion and energy that came from the momentum of the league one promotion and the excitement of being such heavy underdogs and the potential prize of the Premier League. This time we won’t have that so may drop to regular levels of energy. I don’t think it should be underestimated how crucial that was.
Morsy and Luongo dominated almost every midfield last time. They might not be able to do the same again, and will be difficult to replace. Leif Davis is also close to irreplaceable, we cannot let him go.
I think we should be favourites for the title, but absolutely cannot get complacent. |  |

On the other hand, we won't be facing Prem-level attackers. Opponents will have, at best, the same speed of thought and passing accuracy as our own lot (unlike most of this season). Indeed, hopefully those who stay will have upped their game with the experience they've gained. |  |

Premiership teams remember, as much as we've competed this season in games, alot of Premiership teams have players who are stronger, quicker, fitter, more athletic, and can sustain it for the whole 90mins. Than at least 75% of the Championship.

No not really but
Head says it’s going to be really difficult 1) we don’t really know what we have as a first 11, 2) we have quite a lot of important acquisitions to make and nothing is certain with incoming players, 3) we’ve had a season losing a lot, it’s a big lift and only time allows us to regain that winning culture even if that’s as the season goes, and 4) the season is long and injuries have been a feature this season we don’t know how those players will come back and contribute eg Wes, Ogbene, SS, Chappers.

The way I look at it is that we beat Coventry 3-0 in the FA Cup with our reserve team starting and hardly breaking a sweat - and they've gone on to finish fifth in the league.
Even if we lose Delap, O'Shea, Davis, Axel, Phillips and Cajuste from our squad our starting XI next season will be stronger than the team we put out against Coventry that day - and that's before we invest some of the parachute money and money from player sales.
So by any measure we should go up - it all really depends whether the second half of this season has got into the heads of the team and we've developed a losing habit. | | | |
