The UK economy grew more than expected in the first three months of the year 08:33 - May 15 with 888 viewsThe_Flashing_Smile

Just thought I'd get in before onceablue does, we know he likes to keep us updated with how the economy's going.

Typically the Tories have played it down talking about future forecasts and telling us how great it was doing under them, but good to see the sensible response from the Lib Dems saying the data was "positive news", but there was "no time for complacency".

The Lib Dems are starting to grow on me actually, hearing a lot of good and sensible noises coming from them (when Ed Davey's not doing ridiculous 'It's A Knockout' style stunts).

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Clearly a delayed Brexit bounce.

PArliament would be a much better place if the Lib Dems were the official opposition rather than the Tory loons.

Good news, although Sky were saying this is due to companies rushingnthrough orders prior to tarifs hitting & the NI rises in April. Guess we will see. Nice to see a TWTD poster reading something other than the Guardian!

Sky don't seem to have looked into it too deeply (deliberately or ignorantly).

Liz Martins, senior UK economist at HSBC, told the BBC's Today programme she was "quite cheered" by the figures."Business investment is up nearly 6% on the quarter and the service sector is doing well as well. So it's not just manufacturers selling to the US to get ahead of the tariffs."

I know we don't make much anymore but I was in Manchester the other Saturday and it was absolutely heaving - shops, bars, restaurants, queues to get in. I reckon Primark accounted for the 0.7% on its own.

One of our couriers are putting on a direct 1.86% levy against all invoices which will cost us just under £3,000 a year in additional delivery costs.

So - we are getting hit from all sides. A staff NI hike and also a levy from suppliers.

Bunch of arse!

A chum and I commented how busy London was yesterday too, as are the roads with commercial vehicles.
