I am happy Palace won but it is kind of relevant because VAR has caused minutes of delay and caused an in stadium delay/annoyance (I had a good friend there today as a neutral who has told me how clueless they were to both the potential red card and penalty checks) and in my opinion still ended up with the wrong decision. |
I swear there has been multiple major international tournaments where VAR seems to have a lot less

Today’s penalty - I think it’s fair to stick with call if you’re asking for clear and obvious. However, I think if it’s purely yes or no, then it should be reversed.
Now Jack Clarke against Everton, I’m fine with it being reversed if you’re saying yes or no because I don’t really think that was a penalty but it still could be argued either way. However. They decided that one was clear and obvious. Where’s the threshold? It’s all still super subjective! |

By the law, I think the H Clarke one was correct by continuing inside, so I guess you could say it’s done it’s job there.

By the law, I think the H Clarke one was correct by continuing inside, so I guess you could say it’s done it’s job there.

FF to May 2026 - if we are celebrating promotion it won't be nearly as special as 2024, a day that took over 2 decades to arrive.
Paliss fans will, hopefully, not get so entitled that they expect trophies every season (good luck to them in UEL next season), but, I would expect multiple EPL fan bases to point at Paliss' win and say "if they can do it, why can't we?" I am guessing that the celebrations will take form of a bus ride from the ground to central Croydon where there is much more space, including the town hall and adjoining Queen's Gardens.

Absolutely delighted with the result, can't think of a more deserving club or set of fans than Palace.
Scandalous refereeing though, it's obviously a red card and everyone would be crying corruption if it had gone the way of the big team. The officials clearly didn't want to make such a big call so early in a cup final.
