Have done for absolutely years, but that makes next year a bit harder.

Certainly does. Ipswich, Leicester, Southampton, Sheff United.

Certainly going to be fun, and you could argue if we’re not better than at least a couple of those then we don’t deserve to go back up.

We’ll see, they may yet need to sell some key players having missed out on promotion. Hamer surely will have some interest. We should have a bigger budget than them, a lot riding on whether McKenna stays 🙏

Don't for a single second expect McKenna to go anywhere this summer.

10 for 10 on failing to win play offs....

Outside the late 90s playoffs any reason why? I don’t mind them to be honest, they don’t pretend to be this huge club and they were always the inner city club compared to Wednesday.

Wilder is a fool though.

They were awful in the second half. Not overly worried.

If they keep that side they’re a cut above most of that division. Not sure if they will though.

I am not sure I agree. With Sunderland’s young players (that’s the benefit of a functioning yoof system) playing the way they do, they’d have been stronger next year.

Sheffield United? Bar Hamer I thought they were very ordinary and playing McCarthy ‘what we have we hold’ style didn’t impress me,

It’s really up to us and what we do now, not the other teams. Leicester and Saints have their own internal troubles, Sheffield U and Coventry will be strong as will Birmingham plus one or two others, but we’ve a really good chance if we get recruitment right, regardless of who moves on.

Entirely the late 90s, though an honourable mention for a game, under BFJ, if my memory isn't playing tricks, where I'd driven approximately 12,000 miles in a shtty Citroen AX to watch the game at their place and Warnock sent his thugs out to just kick us off the park.

Again, dodgy memory, but pretty sure Benty was ruled out of a subsequent U21 game and Kuqi got a stud through his thigh.

We ended up signing Scowie on loan and that was... underwhelming...

Again, memory may be conflating a few bits there, but it's 100% how it's aligned in my head.

Thought so, honestly Wednesday fans are more annoying. I always enjoyed a trip to the lane back in the day.

They're all filth.

And Bolton.

Don't much like Birmingham or Huddersfield, if we're making lists...

Not sure Sunderland would have been stronger. They already werent anywhere near as good as Sheff United over the course of the season and they likely would have struggled to keep hold of some of their players. Watson has already been sold to Brighton as it is- bet they regret that now.

And middle-age trauma!

I love watching football, not WWW masquerading as football. Not to mention their 25 years of unjustifiable grudge-holding against us and B. Knight.

They were today. Stronger than last season too and the way in which they play with that excellent centre forward, plenty of good yoofs who are improving - I reckon they’d have been serious challengers.

Sheffield United? Strong, organised, quite ‘old fashioned’ in the way they played. Like the two in midfield and the full back with the big hair looks a player. The rest? Average. Moore was good for an hour, but he tired. I wonder how much he’s got left, though I’d still like to have had him in our squad this season.

My boy is adamant that we put a deal in front of him last summer.

I'm convinced we didn't, but agree, in hindsight, he'd have been a useful option.

Good enough for 90 points though (92 actually)! And 91 points in their Championship season before that.

Would you rather be the beaten parachute club, dialled in to 2+ PPG already, like Leeds last season, or the habitual loser, but in their first year of parachute payments, like Leicester / Burnley etc.? Tough one to call imo.

I'm a soppy sentimentalist, so was hoping for a day of joy for Kevin Campbell's boy, Tyrese, and his family.

Perfect start, but not to be, sadly.
