Briers was a very clever actor, able to convey nuance even in comedy. I got to see him as Malvolio in the stage performance of Branagh's Twelfth Night.

Oh yeah, he’s brilliant. He does a great Polonius as well. Guess it’s a reflection on how good an actor he is.
