Both clubs have been in the wars in recent years. Worse even than we had. What a pleasure to see them both at Wembley today. Good for them. It is a shame one of them has to lose.

Oldham v Southend on 10:26 - Jun 1 with 1616 views
Amazing to think Oldham were a Premier League side. Southend have been in a mess for so long, Kevin Maher has done a fantastic job to keep them competitive, especially with how things were unravelling off the field.
The brother of one of my employees plays for them, but has been injured recently.
He got my son a ticket for THAT Exeter game, in with the Exeter fans when he played for them. He had to sit there and behave like them...as we cracked in 5(?)before half time

Southend also a decent championship side in the 1990's, I recall a last minute Mike Marsh winner for them at Roots Hall in a game we dominated pretty much costing us a play-off place.
Played them in the league as recently as 2019/20. A lot has changed since then.
Bonne (and Nick Hayes in goal) v Norwood & Garner.
I imagine both of the ‘bash bros’ will start on their respective benches though.
As you say both clubs have had a rough time of it, will be massive for either to get back into L2.
Sad to see how Bonnes career has gone in the past 3 years.
He’s looked like a competition winner. Looks slow/unfit, touch of a trampoline, shot power of a toddler. Always looked 10 yards away from where he should have been. His confidence is presumably in the gutter.
My hobbies include being quiet during trips, clapping with songs, and diabetes.

Four relegations and zero promotions since their Premier League days. Until today!
Just seen on the BBC site that the summariser for the BBC Essex commentary is none other than Glenn Pennyfather.
He's a regular on BBC Essex. I find him very good - well-informed about local football at various levels, articulate, and capable of offering rational criticism without sounding snide or whiney, while all the while clearly gently rooting for the county's teams.

I listened to the first half on BBC Essex while out and about in the car. Agreed, he comes across very well.

For no reason at all, he and Chris Difford have morphed into one person in my head. If Chris Difford did football, he’d be Glenn P; if Glenn wrote songs, they’d be Squeeze songs. I have no idea why this has happened .
