With Frank to Spurs all but confirmed, do we think Brentford try to get McKenna?
I'd rather we replaced him now than during the season, although it's gonna hurt.
Steve Cooper and Gary O’Neil seem like worrying sensible options (especially at this level), but I sort of hope we look abroad. Someone like Domenico Tedesco or Raffaele Palladino, both from Italy.
Ashton better be working the phones hard today...

Yeah, but it's been done to death in dozen of threads, both last summer and now again. If you get yourself beat up over every rumor/speculation, we are all going to have a long summer. There's nothing much to think about. The club will have to go out and find a new manager (or promote Pert, if he doesn't go with McKenna).
It might be someone we've heard of, but, equally, Ashton has something of a track record of giving a chance to new young managers (Rodgers, McKenna*), so possibly not.

I couldn’t care less if he stays or goes. We had this all last summer and lm sure it must have hampered our transfer business at the time. I don’t want that again this summer,so if it’s going to happen get it done and let’s move on,get someone in and let them have time building their squad.
Can’t honestly see the attraction in Brentford really. Their 3 best players appear to be off. They are only one bad transfer window away from fighting a relegation battle. Once they do get relegated (which they will in the next season or two) they will struggle to ever return. As a Spurs fan said yesterday to me, they are a league 1 club punching well above their weight. |  | | |

It's a real bore as others have alluded to with him touted as a real contender for every single job that comes up.
Personally I don't think it will happen. They're a football club whose whole model runs on the principle of finding value and KMc is probably the most expensive option out there (even if they do get 10M in comp from Frank) in comp they'd have to pay us and comp they'd have to pay him.
They're far more likely to get someone in from Scandinavia or possibly the broader European market.
As others have said though, if he goes then so be it. Soton/ Leicester had new managers two years ago and both went up first time of asking, Burnley last year. Just needs to be the right appointment. | | | |

But he didn't join Palace that winter, nor Brighton in the summer. Yes, there was an improved deal, but he elected to stay at Ipswich, with whom there is a fair chance of him getting another crack at the Prem in the near future, plus he has much more authority than managers/head coaches get at many other clubs, not to mention his own improvements to the training ground, also the wholehearted support of the ownership and almost all of the fanbase. | |

The key point is which backroom staff is he taking with him.
If he doesn't take most of them, then Brentford will move one of them to be manager. If he does take most of them then Brentford will look external for a manager.
But if KM does move there he needs to accept he won't have any say on any players they buy, the Brentford model isn't designed like that. The club identifies the players and he will coach them. |  | | |

Exciting for Frank, definitely the right time for him (though Spurs is rarely the right club!).
It may be the right time for McKenna but this was also his first major setback as manager. I can see a good case for him continuing to develop here next season - a chance to reaffirm his methods in an environment he knows well, well paid, this time with all the cards stacked in his favour. He wouldn't want to misfire at a lower half PL side next season; would look like his tactics had been found out.
If he stays and achieves promotion in style, next summer would arguably be an excellent time for him to leave (unpopular opinion!). | | | |

I think McKenna's outlook is the same as O'Shea's. He's committed to Ipswich at the moment.
As said above, I feel the uncertainty held is back in the transfer market last year and, unless he's gone to Ashton and said he's definitely staying, the same is going to be happening this year. I'd be really happy if he stayed. But if he's going to go, I hope he goes very soon so we can move forward, rather than spend a few weeks treading water. | |
