Phil… what other possible names were there for TWTD when you launched? 16:19 - Jun 22 with 1363 viewsMatt_Netherlands

Just thinking we must he quite rare to have our main forum ( / fanzine) with a name that mentions nothing to do with a club nickname, local area etc etc.

And for anyone else… if you were starting up again from scratch what else would you call TWTD?

Wasn’t the TWTD name taken from the original paper fanzine (not sure if Phil or Gav were involved) and which itself was based on fans of that era - early 90s - harking back to the good old days.

We had a few fanzines...I wrote a couple of articles back in the day for TWTD but for the life of me can't remember the names of other fanzines....

I still have some of those old TWTD fanzines. Hard to believe they are over 30 years old. Mind you, not sure some of the content would be published today

Dribble was good. Think there was one called Blue which didn’t last long.

Didn't Paul Stevens start the original Those Were The Days fanzine? Phil and Gav took it online after a couple of other print 'owners'.

Dribble and Blue were the other fanzines but TWTD was more consistent in terms of decent quality articles.

A Load of Cobbolds too.

If anyone is in or passing through Leeds there a nice little exhibition in the library on fanzines and fan culture. Be warned though, there is a large Duncan Forbes flag.

Indeed, it started in 1989/90 and we didn't get involved until late 1994.

Didn’t you change to TATD briefly (presumably 2000/01) or am I imaging that / getting confused with an urban myth?

"Turbulent Winds Threaten Dalham" – a dramatic re-imagining of TWTD as a rural meteorological thriller where Dalham finds itself at the centre of swirling Ipswich Town gossip, fan theories, and transfer rumours so intense they’re classified as atmospheric disturbances.

It amalgamated with TWTD when the other Phil and Gav took over.

Yes, when we finished fifth, in response to Richard Wright commenting that even the fanzine harks back to the Robson era. We switched back once the new season started.

If we were starting it as a news and views website, which is what it's been for the last 25 years, we'd have chosen something more newsy and less fanziney. It did cause us problems with one or two people at the club arguing we were 'just a fanzine' when we were trying to get access, hence we promoted TWTD rather than the full name in an NME or GQ sort of way.

Do you find that you (and TWTD) are now treated with respect by the club? Are there still people at the club who still view TWTD as just a fanzine?
