Maybe a bit of exaggeration on my behalf, but getting hooked at half time isn't a good look! I feel like Clarke was also returning from an injury himself, so McKenna would rather not have given him minutes? Again, could be completely wrong.
There was definitely a game where I remember thinking something wasn't right with him whatsoever, and it really stuck in my mind as the rumours starting coming out not long after. [Post edited 27 Jun 14:03]

QPR at home between Xmas and New year, a couple of weeks after Wayford.. We had loads missing otherwise I doubt he'd have started. Some very strange moments, at one point he was running around in a circle. Never to be seen again.

Seem to remember we had a pretty depleted squad made even worse by Williams being half a player and must have come not too long after the Watford performance mentioned earlier. Definitely think for every good game he had for us, there was a bad one as well. He only played 15 times and took a little while to get up to speed, then seemed brilliant for a little bit, and then useless towards the back end of Dec
Clearly a talent, but I'm not particularly keen on having someone convicted of dangerous driving and driving without insurance at the club. |  | | |

He'll be 25yrs old in Sept, money, and roof over his head no issue, how about he takes responsibility for himself and his own actions? |
At what age do you never need any help with doing that? Especially when battling with an addiction.
For what it's worth, I would want a very clear indication that he has successfully remained clear of the addiction for the past year before I even considered signing him on a contract. The fitness is something he should be able to regain over preseason the same as a player returning from an injury. |  |

With Sheff Weds unable to pay fees, etc it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up there this summer. They are going to have to sign these types of players or use academy ones to have a full squad this season. |  |

EVen an injured player will go into the gym and be treated by physios and be on a conditioning plan, etc. Williams had none of that. |  | | |

Not sure it's one to laugh at. The kid has fcuked up his own career, based mainly on the people he was knocking about with. Worked hard to get himself back and then was unable to maintain the level required.
He'll likely never get to this level again, and he'll probably regret this for the rest of his life.

It's a shame to read. But seems like something that could be fixed if only he can find the motivation. Perhaps shows the folly of clubs like Man Utd throwing £50k a week at teenagers. |  |

Very good point. Didn’t we have all this with the likes of Chopra? When the new owners came in they talked about standards of behaviour, work in the community, role models etc. Should we revert to who cares just like the Jewell/Evans era where because a player was on the cheap we weren’t interested in why? Alternatively, save a bit of cash and scrap all the community stuff and just hand out Poundland yellow balloons.

He could have very easily killed somebody. Man Utd effectively booted him out and I don’t think there’s been much of a stampede to sign him up. Maybe I’m wrong and his agent is beating Villa, Newcastle and co off with sticks.
Signing an animal like Thatcher, Bowyer, Bullard taking the p&£# after conning a contract. Tubs of lard like Wood, Ebanks-Blake, Ellington, ankle tag man Croft: it all annoyed me and let’s face it, if last years humiliations thought us anything, it’s that the game has progressed. It’s truly professional unless you want to hoof around at Oldham.
I dearly hope we’ve moved on from that, though clearly some haven’t. I guess it’s the old Norwood style cult hero thing. So this is a long winded rant saying a big fat no to Williams from me. We can do better. [Post edited 27 Jun 11:37]

Just goes to prove you can have all the ability but if you don't have the right mindset you won't progress your career.
FWIW, even if I had the ability (Which I didn't) if I was offered the sums at 19/20/21 these kids are getting, I would've ended up in a skip. |  |
