At this stage last year we’d only signed Omari and Johnson so it’s not unusual, but think it’s the case of losing your best striker, not getting Burgess or Axel to resign when we wanted them to and just all feels a bit flat |
Got to say I was fully expecting Burgess and Axel to go. Was fine with Burgess going. He's a good player but won't be a starter and he needs to be playing now. Would have preferred Axel to stay but his injury record takes the edge off. Delap was always going.

Would imagine not every target is overly ambitious. We’re in no rush - if nothing moves in or out we’d start the season with a very strong side. But it will do, and we’ll be stronger. | | | |

Slightly worried we wait for these more ambitious deals and they don't materialise. Then leaves us scrambling at the end of the window after a lot of the more likely targets have already been snapped up. |

Broja for sure, the Boro player last scramble as we didn't land another sick note broja, would have been a better fit than a player who played very few minutes for Everton with a buy clause,no

Don't think Broja is a good example personally. He was a key target who we held out for and agreed a deal with Chelsea and terms with the player. It was the club who decided to pull out of the deal after the medical turned up something that wasn't known about.
If Broja had been unrealistic then we either wouldn't have been able to agree terms with Chelsea or we wouldn't have agreed terms with the player.

That's fine to say in hindsight knowing that he failed the medical but how would we have known he was going to fail the medical? Had he passed it then he was all set to sign. Playing few minutes for Everton shows that choosing not to sign him after failing the medical was the right call. | |

We've got so spoilt in recent windows haven't we. I can take the high ground and say everyone just be patient (which is true) but yes gagging for a signing. I think 2-3 in quick succession - it's just waiting for other teams to be ready etc as well.
I tell you what it won't be that is always uplifting. It won't be Cornell, Hawkins and Ward. |
