Is there a desperate attempt to see more games go five days in England?

I don't think I've seen the ball do anything since yesterday.

it’s purely an attempt to make Bazball more successful by taking the pitch out of the equation and making it so any test quality batsman can score big runs on a surface

Wickets are very dry so seam degrades quickly limiting seam movement and providing more consistent bounce plus little movement in the air with current ongoing dry conditions.

Edgbaston has always been a good wicket to bat on once in, if you can get through early movement off the pitch/swing if conditions are right.

Unless we got through their top order in the first 20-30 overs with the new ball, this was going to be a slog . . .

Experience of watching England suggests that there will be plenty of wickets falling soon once we get the last man out....

That being said, the ball is swinging / seaming round corners in Grenada for the WI against the Aussie batters . . .

Well this is going well.

Two days in the field in hot weather is not good preparation to start an innings nearly 600 behind.

India finding lengths England couldn't and this time are holding their chances.

England's unbeaten record under Stokes when conceding 500+ under threat.

This is the rub of bazball, win a few lose a few, but frankly all we had to do was bat first tbh. However wasn’t impressed by bowling at Leeds and even less so now, no future in it.

I know Stokes does it because he fancies chasing any target but you run the risk of players weary, drained if out on the field for 5 sessions and added scoreboard pressure.

We do have absentees in the bowling department but our attack really doesn't look good enough. Stokes bowling himself first up this morning wasn't terribly encouraging to see.

and Cummins won the toss and batted, Windies captain would have bowled if he had won. Local knowledge is key. Beautiful cricket venue, would like to be there....

Wakes out of form but at his age maybe for good who knows? Tongue, not convinced. Stokes still quality but limited. Carse OK but not quite good enough bowler or batsman and Bashir? What's wrong with Jack leach?

comparing our bowlers to the Australians is a sorry read, might struggle in the next Ashes.

It's the thing I've always said about making him captain, he makes decisions based on what he thinks he can do to change a game, not what the team can do to.

Was there today.

An extremely tough watch.

It also highlighted to me why segregation in football crowds is a good thing having suffered screaming Indians everytime they ran a single.

You can understand the Headingley bowl first due to the history there & the fact it doesn’t deteriorate but Edgbaston has always been a bat first wicket.

Only a good bit of rain at the weekend can save us this week.

We've got to make it to the weekend first. If today was anything to go by we may struggle a bit with that!

They do have as weak a batting line up as they have had for some time

I do fear it's the last big series for that bowling quarter though and they'll be keen to go out with a bang

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!
