England spiralling again.

Totally spooked this morning and careless since.

England going to be well short of anything competitive for India to chase. In a way it might do our selectors a favour and have a rethink. We’ve still got plenty to consider regarding Crawley and Pope. They’ve both had plenty of opportunities and just aren’t delivering consistently enough. No doubt both will be selected for the rest of the series.

England's solution to batting woes was always to drop a bowler.

Crawley drives me nuts, when he plays well he looks a terrific batsman, but he just doesn’t deliver often enough as a test batsman. He’s got a weakness on the off stump and to me he’s liking a walking wicket. It reminds me of the Ramprakash and Hick situation of the 90s, surely Key and BM need to stop this experiment now? It’s gone on far too long now.

It's been a very odd pitch, irregular bounce since day one. I wouldn't want to bat last...

This is a good tier 1 side we’re playing though and they’re well above our level

Let’s hope so, I’d be quite happy if someone comes back and says this has worn well once the match concludes.

Stokes and McCullum have created a bit of a jobs for boys culture and selection is based on hunches.

Alex Lees would have long earned a recall by now but he's not oomph enough.

Some pretty woeful shot selection from the higher order which was a mixture of arrogance and stupidity.

Not sure I understand how running down the pitch or ramping after only being in for a few overs sets the right mindset.

Definitely time to ditch Crawley. Nothing but a modern day Graeme Hick - a flat track bully.

India aren't exactly making a fist of it here either. Not sure we can be too harsh on England, it been an odd pitch bounce-wise. Also, the ball being used is seemingly making a massive difference, hence the amount of ball change requests.

This has aged well.. stop being so pessimistic this is a very close match credit to stokes and the way we play

A very poor pitch, I feel like that fourth wicket puts England in the box seat.

It’s only 3 batsmen out though as Deep is a tailender

Need another 3 in the morning including Rahul and Pant, then it will really be game on

India bat very deep too Reddy, Jadeja and Sundar are all pretty decent.

India still favourites but it’s getting close

I feel like India need to be 6 wickets down before they chalk up 100. Then 192 might start to feel far away. As you say a big first 10 - 15 overs tomorrow.

Still make them clear favourites though at this stage.

India's tail may be deep on paper but they've been short on runs....

Need to get Rahul early or he can just hold an end and cruise them to victory.
Thought Carse bowled superbly at the end of the day.

Eh? It’s been an excellent test wicket, batsmen able to make runs but bowlers still able to get something out of it. Considering it’s heading into the 5th day, there’s some deterioration but it’s not crumbling.

I think it’s well balanced going into the final day, but England need to get Rahul early plus not allow Pant to play his shots.

Been a good test series so far, and both sides are going through changes having lost some really big names.

Well, we have to get Deep out at some stage. Yes, Pant's wicket will be key. I think we've been outbowled bi India again, but Stokes but in a mighty effort & Carse found good rhythm & pace, which compensated for Archer bowling too full & Woakes being a light of former days (or only effective on a green top).

I do like the look of Carse, just needs time to find his feet at this level. He’s got something about him.
