Yes every away game. Saturday games I’ll head up on the Friday at whatever time of day has the cheapest rail fare, explore the town on the Friday night and either head home after the match on the Saturday or stay another night if it’s too far to get home on the Saturday and head home on the Sunday morning. Can get pricey hence only do a max of 2 a month.

For Blackburn suggest you stay in Preston, decent town with lots of cracking pubs and friendly inhabitants. A few Yorkshire clubs this season where Doncaster is my usual base.

Midweek games, duration of stay depends on distances really. For Brum I’ll head up on Friday and come back Saturday morning I reckon. For Bristol I’d probably go the day before the game and have the day in Bristol.

Yeah. Do it often and agree with Vince about Preston. Some super pubs. Tend not to bother for London matches due to the exxpense. In fact if we have two consecutive away matches I'll stay out for the week, as in Newcastle and Everton last season and Morecambe and Fleetwood a while ago. Of course, I'm retired so I have the time.

Yeah, sometimes. Not so easy these days as the kids have stuff on at various points across the weekend. I used to use it as excuse to explore new places for running, so anywhere within spitting distance of somewhere like the Pennines was always a favourite.

For more relaxed time, Bristol’s not bad. I enjoy wandering the old docks. There are some nice places for a coffee and morning papers up nearer the town end and then it’s a nice walk down through the docks with a couple of pubs on the way to the ground.

Hull’s one I haven’t done yet. I’d like to spend some time at the aquarium. That’d definitely be a whole weekend job from over here.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Hull midweek. Only ground in the division I need to tick off.

As an alternative to Preston, Chorley has fabulous pubs all within a short walk of the station. Or, Colne, just hhe other side of Burnley, reachable by bus, cheap as chops and a great night out (for pubs)

I have done it quite a bit, Plymouth is a good one stayed over three times now, we often look up any old football ground sites as well.

We have friends who live in Derbyshire so it's an ideal base to get some away games in....if you can get a ticket!

Wrexham is my only ground not visited in this seasons Championship, I did go to Demon Tweaks in Wrexham to get Basuco the even younger some Kart racing gear many years ago, but would love to tick off the football ground, not sure I will get a ticket with under 20 away points.

Off to Aberdeen going Thursday back on Saturday, like Bristol will stay up hopefully do a trip around SS Great Britain. Prefer midweek games for staying out especially home games as not living in Ipswich, Its the great part of retirement.

Have been the last couple of years with my boy, nephews and brother in law, makes it feel like more of a trip and I can have a drink or 5 and boy we’ve had some good ones.

Sometimes go up on the Friday evening and home the Sunday, did that for Everton and Liverpool. Sometimes just the Saturday night.

Booked the Blackburn hotel last night as it happens, the Fenhurst again literally right across the road from the ground, with a pub attached, Greene King.

Yeah, I just had a look after posting. Blinkin typical. And I see that Bristol is too - ok for me, but not ideal for those coming from Suffolk.

But get a coach?!?!

The idea of being on a coach for 10 mins gives me a shudder.

I assume these days you can drink and there are toilets? Even so, its just too restrictive for me and takes aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages.

Train is very expensive and not always easy from all places
Drive - I do where I can and have enough people in the car to make it financially viable. Sometimes if it's just me and the boy it is too far or too late for me to drive. Also, some people do not own a car
Not plan on walking to some away games - I'd probably need to set of now to reach some of them
Coach works for many - just cos you don't like it doesn't mean others dont and they are certainly not all weirdo's - just normal people.

That's my plan this year - to make a mini break if the time of year and place is nice.

Starting with Preston away - have booked a week in the peaks so will day trip to/fro on match day.

Not really worried about drinking any more - did plenty of that in my younger days, although still like a decent pub and sing along.
