Birmingham sold out 10 minutes into 25+ bracket. on 18:00 - Jul 22 by ArnieM

I think the club needs to look at away ticket allocation again, now. Supply is very short and demand high. This is extremely unlijely to change all season. But on the current sales criteria, only a small number of the SAME fans will ever stand a chance of getting to an away game. The points system now becomes a kind of closed situation to every other Town fan, who are just as loyal but for one reason or another have never been able to buy tickets and accumulate more points. Sonthosecwith mistake pints, simply get the tickets and accumulate even more points. Tickets sales never reaching those fans on points say, between 15-25...or whatever level...

I dont know what the answer is. There's no easy solution, but it's probably almost now fairer to make it an open house, first come first served for each away game..... then people all have the same opportunity / chance to get a ticket.

There will be a number that go to low levels, such as Blackburn, Preston, Brizzle and Wednesday. If you but membership that will get you five points and should be able to get a ticket to these games. Admit its not the glamour or local games, which will sell out quickly, but being selfish, having invested a lot of time and money to go to away games I think the system is fair.

I can appreciate it's frustrating for fans who can't get tickets. But at the same time, it's worth remembering the tail end of Mick and both Pauls where you could turn up and pay on the day for aways and normally have three seats to spread out in.

Even when the new era started it was similar. I remember Bolton away at the beginning of 2022, KM's third game, and there was only about 800 of us there I think from memory.

Having satb through all that, plus gold cards in the past just to get to Cambridge etc. it feels fair enough really.

Think that illustrates the frustration though as clearly we haven’t had 2,000 attending every game for years

More accurately, we had a much smaller number going to pretty much every game and then a much larger number that would do a portion of games each year. Since the back end of 2023/24 it’s become a situation where you either go to pretty much every game (or‘buy a ticket for somebody to use’), which obviously lots of people can’t do for various reasons, or go to none

To be honest I’m not sure what can really be done as can’t think of a fairer system, but definitely think some more empathy from those that do have enough points rather than just telling people they could have gone to Bolton - in fact there will be lots of people that were at games like that who now can’t go

First game of the season always going to be high demand however they do it.

Will be plenty of opportunity for others but just have to buy the membership so they can start to accumulate points.

The next two will make 5+ easily.

Bristol City will get down there amongst others.

Not really helped by the 2,000 allocation. I was hoping to get one tommorow but there you go.

Not a chance it should be open house. Imagine going away from home to places like Accrington, Forest Green and Plymouth spending fortunes going to virtually every game for years and then they make it open house and you get beaten to a ticket by somebody who goes to one away game a season because it’s down the road from them. It simply wouldn’t be fair. All successful clubs have systems like this, it’s the fairest way, yes it’s tough on fans on 10 points etc but they will just have to wait their turn.

Apparently Norwich allow all members to select one game ( could be Home or Away).

There is a limit (per game) on how many are reserved for this purpose - not sure if number or %- but encourages the purchase of a membership and also helps to accommodate those fans that want to go away, but haven’t got enough points. Also helps fans that live in different parts of the country to see their team locally.

Obviously, even members with high away points get to choose a game too.

Personally, I thought the Away ballot was too low last season - could have been higher than 2%. It will likely be harder to get tickets this year.

My membership last year, allowed me to get Coventry and Forest in the cup and Leicester. Hopefully will manage to get a few more this year. Will definitely try to get Preston tickets when they go on sale. Was the membership worth it, probably not - could have got the two cup games without one.

This 1000%. I have been going to away games since the mid 1980’s, done the “hard yards” in the past from Newcastle to Plymouth and many places in between but only for a few times each season, doing different ones each time . Work and health meant I only got to 4 away games in 23/24 season so last season was only able to go to Coventry and this season, if I am lucky, possibly get to one or two with large allocations.
I accept that those who have done all the games in the last two seasons deserve a ticket more than me. What I do fear though is that the same 2000 people will buy tickets for every away game and if they can’t go or decide they won’t go, they will just sell the tickets on to people who they know. That is not right but I really don’t know what the answer is to it

Good points and very fair.

It must be hard for the fans who followed closely and did that portion of games to suddenly be locked out. And you're right that lots of those will have been regular attendees at a good number of games.

Makes me shake my head that we have this demand. We were down to 8000 ST holders during the pandemic.

They could’ve gone back a few more years originally but then where do they stop? Would get complaints whatever.

And people used to take the p1ss out of you if you said you were a season ticket holder. I remember going to the 4 - 0 defeat at Burnley in the Jewell era on a Tuesday night in November. There was 300 of us there, how times change. Not being a profit of doom but as we know things can go down in football as well as up. If we were mid table in November for example then would there still be a clamber for away tickets?

In what way is that fairer? The people who can buy tickets are those who have invested hard yards (and good money) over a number of years and therefore it is their right to continue to go and support the club should they want to.

If you wanted a ticket today you have plenty of opportunity to get one in the past to be in their shoes.

What about youngsters, who didn’t have ‘plenty of opportunity … in the past’?

Young fans coming through are the future of supporting the club, and yet they have no chance to support the team away.

I’m not sure there is a good solution, but excluding young fans from away games is not a good place to be.

Yep. And that's why we go whatever the state of things. It makes all the success mean something!

Yes I was there too - still have that in my mind as the truest of “hardcore” followings at the time.

Not so long ago, Accrington defeat under Cook (2-1 October 2021) was one of those away games when I looked around and thought what on earth am I doing here - went on my own as nobody wanted to go (nowadays we’re back to a group of 10+ at every game). That was the period of the fan base changing a bit (well probably a lot) but to think that was less than 4 years ago is incredible.

I see many youngsters at away games who are regulars so they are not excluded per se
