Hmmmn this adds a bit to my speculation. My alerts were raised when we have had 2 quite close together. Over the years we have the odd behind closed doors meet up, but never 2 quite close.
So my big guess is that Leif Davis has had a bash in central midfield. We all know he is the fittest man in football so where can you maximise this... Central midfield. It is questionable how good he is in the tackle. He can certainly cross and can certainly move quick with the ball. I think this is what is being hidden. Would also add to why me might be interested in Ashley Young to cover for Townsend if he is injured at left back. This also frees up Jack Clarke to play his cutting in from the left wing to shoot.

Because his strengths are being able to get up and down the flank for 90 minutes, making overlapping runs from deep, and putting quality balls into the box. Those skills are all suited to being an attacking left back, they aren't suited to being a central midfielder. Arguably CM is the toughest position to play, you don't just transition there in your mid-20s usually having played no football in that position. Liverpool tried it with Trent for a bit and quickly moved him back to right back. | |

For me Lief's greatest attribute is his fitness and you want your fittest players involved most. For me Trent a a was a calculated player and not a sprinter. Given that Leif was the best attacking fullback in the Championship and had some excellent attacking numbers in the PL, that would be a suicidal move by KM. I really can't see him doing that. He's much more likely to be giving Cam time to prove his worth and try and claim a 1st team slot. | |

Leif's greatest attribute is NOT his fitness. Good grief. You would be taking away what are actually his best weapons - ability and timing to get past his men with his electric pace and his fantastic delivery from out wide. Record assists for a fullback in the championship and more goal creations then any other defender in the Prem.
He isn't at all suited to CM birth and the way we play our CM just being fit isn't really that key even. His weakness in the tackle would be a worry.
I can't think of many players in the team I would less make a switch from their position to another. He couldn't be more suited to LB/LWB in our system.
Ben Johnson would be most likely to be played there if anyone as he played as much if not more in CM for West Ham as full back.
It was interesting to see Harry Clarke more advanced in the last game as well. I'd argue he would be more likely as well (that doesn't mean I think it's a good idea btw). | |

Really can't agree. He's great at making those lung busting runs up and down the flank but that's not how we have our CMs playing, their role is very different and it's much more about covering spaces, being in positions to receive the ball, and moving it on quickly. I don't see Davis being remotely suited to playing CM which is probably why he's never played there. | |

Think he played there a bit as a yoot. Started off as a striker, moved back to CM, then ended up at right back when his coaches realised he wasn't as good as the other CM yoots on Arsenal's books. | |
