So 3 right backs now. 20:04 - Jul 23 with 1463 views | Wallingford_Boy | Assuming we won’t sign any more, assuming Young won’t be a starter and assume Clarke will leave either Perm or on loan. So Johnson it is. Happy with that.

Where are you seeing 50k a week? I thought that was rubbished earlier on the forum. Seems highly unlikely to me. SB

I suspect at a complete guess it'll be something around 30k with a big promotion bonus. That would imo make more sense. But having said that. We've seen players at champ level get 50 60k before so who knows.

He's versatile, experienced, a level above any other player we have in his main position. Clearly he will play. He started most of Everton's Premier League matches last season.

So 3 right backs now. on 22:02 - Jul 23 with 976 views | Smoresy | You're not afraid of an assumption Wally I'll give you that. Young played more minutes than Johnson last season, starting half of Everton's games. He started in their final three matches, a hat-trick of league wins, which concluded with a 1-0 win against Newcastle. I know there's a phobia on here of players over 30, and that puts Young in nursing home territory really doesn't it, but providing his fitness doesn't drop by a big number over the summer then he'll be plenty fit enough to play good minutes at this level.
So 3 right backs now. on 23:20 - Jul 23 with 793 views | Garv | It won't do Luke Woolfenden much good in his quest to get more minutes, O'Shea is unlikely to have to fill in at RB at this rate. Wouldn't totally surprise me if Johnson gets an offer from a bottom half PL team, a la Tuanzebe, but I hope he stays.

So 3 right backs now. on 07:17 - Jul 24 with 477 views | londonben | I can see us playing with a genuine back three and two wingbacks this year, particularly against the stronger teams. Would make sense given we currently only really have Ogbene as an out-and-out right winger - most of our attacking options seem to be number 10s or more inverted wingers that like to cut in rather than overlap. Plus, overlapping wingbacks on both sides would make it more difficult for teams to double up on our wide attackers, and would make more space inside for our 10s to play. Back three with Leif/Townsend on the left and Young/Johnson on the right. Clarke another option but could see him or Woolfy playing right CB and underlapping like Sheffield used to do. Back three with two CMs would also seem to be more easily transferable to the prem if we go up - back four left us far too exposed with Leif pushing forward, and if he’s not pushing forward there’s no point him playing.

He can but if it comes to that, I would anticipate our recruitment hasnt gone to plan, at all. Can see him moving on. Reportedly on a hefty weekly wage given that we got him on a free. For what thats rumoured to be we could get a far better midfield player than what BJ will/ would be. In my opinion, he also doesnt bring 'that' much more to the side at RB/RWB, than what a fit HC will.

I didn't think this would happen but having thought about it there is a possibility KM felt we were too open with our formation in the PL and that if we got promoted we might need to use wingbacks. If, and it's a big if, that was the case it would make sense to use it sometimes this season to get some familiarity. Greaves - Kipre/Wolf - O'Shea is a very strong back 3. SB
