Josh Brownhill - are we in for him? 17:05 - Jul 28 with 4176 viewstetchris

Burnley’s highest scorer last season (18 goals) from midfield, 29 years old. Gonna be cheaper than HH.

Might not be much cheaper, he's run his contract down and if you believe the rumours is holding out for an 8 figure signing on fee!

Find it odd that he has not signed for anyone, I wonder if he will go abroad as he must of had good offers from teams in the prem or teams aspiring to be promoted.

Just said his goodbyes to Burnley on twitter so definitely not resigning for them. I’m sure we’ve had a conversation but would imagine he’ll end up abroad

Seems an obvious one to go for doesn't it. Strange that he has not found a club yet but I guess finances may be putting off a few.

Maybe as the window progresses any demands might be lowered. Note that not many of the top flight clubs seem to be upgrading in central midfield (Arsenal being the obvious exception), so that may have a little something to do with it.

I expect that he would be aiming higher than an immediate championship return.

Think he's been linked with the MLS and if he was one of their 'designated players' they could probably make the finances work for him,

MLS up there with Saudi league for career-ending. Decent payday, I guess.

The rumoured £15 million signing on fee he wants is putting clubs off I reckon.

I bet Burnley won't be letting him use their facilities to keep fir, whilst he looks for a new club. (Like most clubs do)

Him and Hackney!

As a player, why put such a massive barrier between yourself and potential premier league football? If his “request” was in the low millions then you’d imagine a few mid to lower table prem teams would take a cheap punt. £15m ain’t cheap though.

I wonder what Brownhill would take?

If you consider Hackney on a 3 year deal is £20M + £5.5M in wages over 3 years (52x£35Kx3) so something like £25.5M plus any add ons to fee.

If you offered Brownhill £5M sign on fee and £60K is wages I make that a cost over 3 years circa £14.4M (£5M + 52x£60Kx3).

Brownhill is older and therefore Hackney might be seen as a higher ceiling, but Brownhill has PL experience and more than held his own in the poor season for Burnley. So could there be a possible deal there if we didn't go for Hackney?

Lots of assumptions and a quick search suggests he could be on c. £54K a week at Burnley so even matching his Burnley pay it could be somewhere in the region of £10M cheaper than Hackney.
