Am I alone in thinking things are going to turn pretty toxic very quickly this season if we dont get off to a good start? Seems like all the goodwill deservedly earned over the last 3 season has been drained over the last 12 months and anything negative gets 10 times the attention anything positive (like beating a French top division side 3-0 away) receives.
Maybe its just the usual internet vibe but boy do we need a good start to knock it on the head
We've gained a lot of glory hunters in the last two seasons, it will only be natural they're going to get upset if we start slowly. On a positive, they will problem go back to putting their ManC, L'pool etc shirts back on if we do start slowly.
TBH I don't think it's the glory hunters. We had people on here having meltdowns at points during both promotion seasons.

Yep. In both promotion seasons, we had posters saying we'd better focus on 6th place and keeping hold of that when we went on poor runs in December/January/February. It was mad. Couple of people were even calling for McKenna to be sacked in our League 1 promotion season. That said, the number of bed-wetters (I know we aren't meant to call them that, but that's what they are) has definitely increased significantly over the last year.
I completely agree and i'm already weary of it to be honest. I have deleted X because it was genuinely getting me down and taking away my excitement for the season looking for any sensible football content on there.
The problem is probably the massive expectation. We’d convinced ourselves we’d be invincible with all these top level Championship players, but they’re not looking like to level layers right now. We secured two successive promotions off the back of being a well-drilled unit punching above our weight. That’s gone too, both many of those players and the cohesiveness.
There are signs we could be in trouble. Hopefully we can turn that around pretty quickly otherwise yes it will soon get toxic.
What is your definition of ‘in trouble’ Swanners? Doing a Luton, not comfortably in the top two?
10 games is a decent (and fair) judgement on the start of the season. I'd say if we are anywhere near the bottom, and lost ot Norwich then yes things may get Toxic.
I think a lot of fans will give them a bit of leeway until the end of the window etc but we've got to perform a lot better at home.
The first 2 are arguably some of the toughest games, but after than we've got a "good run" of teams you'd expect us to beat.
Re your last sentence - II suspect that some of our current nervousness (which is what I think it is) is because we kept saying that last season. We’d get over a couple of tough games and see Fulham, Wolves, Palace, Brentford coming up and say - these will be a bit easier - but they never were! It was horrible having to realise that we really weren’t good enough!
I don’t think it will be like that this season though!
