I was over there yesterday morning as Leyton Orient’s U16 and U18s were playing against their Town compatriots. Playford Road has changed so much since the last time I visited, but I really like what the club has done over there and the continued work on Bent Lane. For me, it’s a proper training ground facility, the staff were top notch too!! |  |

Why is it strange? It only got planning permission relatively recently. I don't think there needs to be press releases about pouring foundations, ground works and increasing the capacity of local sub stations. |  | | |

I can only comment on what I saw and I really like it, there’s still lots of work going on at Bent Lane as the U18s played on pitch 6, but Playford Road has really evolved, very impressive. | |

Why is it strange? It only got planning permission relatively recently. I don't think there needs to be press releases about pouring foundations, ground works and increasing the capacity of local sub stations. |
And there will be need to be conditions that need discharging before any development can commence. | | | |

Because it’s a positive news story for the club. Permission was granted in March so I’d assumed they’d be a bit beyond foundations by now, hence why I asked how it’s getting on. No one’s expecting press releases, nor did I suggest there ‘needs’ to be anything, but some update pictures (as they did with the works to the ground last season) would just seem like a positive, and easy, thing for the club to do to show the progress. | | | |

I'm sure they will when the Comms team aren't busy with a season about to start and there's something more exciting to photograph than a portakabin, portaloo and markings for trenches, I guess. [Post edited 3 Aug 10:24]

They need to commission that work then formally submit at which time the council should be looking to determine within eight weeks. I’d suggest its too early for foundations but are working through that process of conditions now | | | |

Because I assumed some progress would have been made and seeing it go up would be something of interest to me. It was a passing comment because I’d be interested to see it, but definitely not a dig at the club and not because I’m losing any sleep over it.
I don’t get to read every comment on here so apologies if it’s been asked and answered before. Seems like a good news story and I’m sure we’ll get updates once the work progresses (which I’d assumed was already the case). | | | |

The first phase is well underway, which is the construction of the new Groundsman’s compound. A new entrance has been formed onto The Street and the building itself isn’t far off coming out of the ground. Once that is complete the old building will be demolished and the new first team
building built. The final phase is the upgrades to the old building for the academy and women’s team. | | | |
