Depressing, but hardly unknown. See also Ivan Toney and Oscar, who spent the best years of his career in China and is still only 33.

But then, how many of us would honestly turn down £400,000 a week to play in a pub league?

Newcastle want £150m for Isak, Liverpool bid £110m. PIF own Al Hilal & Newcastle. Nunez moves from Liverpool to Al Hilal for £55m, which makes up the difference. Nothing fishy going on there at all.

Genuinely one of the most wasteful strikers i've ever seen in any league at any time

Must be decent to get the amount of chances he does, but christ he's got 50p shaped feet when it comes to finishing

Fair play to him. I don't have any problem with this at all. The career is short, an injury can ruin any long term plans and prevent a person from getting another contract.

Plus he is young enough to go there for a year or two and still comeback to an European league.

Good luck to the lad, he is playing the game, and with that sort of wealth he is playing it very nicely

Doesn't really help Newcastle though, as the owners can't put that money into them without breaking PSR rules.

The short career argument is nonsense these days with the money they earn. It was more pertinent in the 80's when they earner more 'normal' wages.

But if he wants to chase the money, that's his call.

I thought he meant it was a way to top up Newcastle's fee by overpaying for Nunez on the understanding that extra was then used to pad the Isak fee.

Still a stretch IMO

Truly impaired.

Yeah, that was what I was referring to as well.

Newcastle would never see that £55m extra so they as a club are still stuck with 'just' £110m to reinvest.

But then this is sportwashing and corruption, so i'm sure they'd find a way!

Why wouldn't they see the extra £40m if if Liverpool bid £150m?

Just to clarify, it’s what J2 said, this will mean they can up there bid to £150m to match what Newcastle want.
