Amazing that he is a free transfer now. I remember watching him live when he first signed. I can't remember ever being so impressed and excited by a signing. Like watching Ronaldinho in L1. He was on another level running with the ball in those early games. Seemed like unbelievable business.

Just never got any better than those first few games. Confidence player. Has the toolkit. Just not the all round game I guess but love a player like him. Gets bums off seats and now a free agent.

It does seem injury has majorly impacted him. Really hope he can get back to his best and find his confidence and form. Should be playing week in and out in the champ.

An Oxford supporting mate reckons he's completely lost the pace and will rapidly disappear.

Such a shame as, as you say, he had so much!

I always feel like a bit of a kill joy when I say this as it comes across as though we shouldn't get excited about new signings...

He was silky and beat players for fun, but he had absolutely nothing when it came to producing a final pass, cross or finish. His best goal was an over hit cross. He didn't do anything of note in that Cheltenham game everyone refers back to.

Slightly unfair - he scored a cracking free kick too, and did notch up a few assists.

Broadly agree though, he absolutely never fulfilled his potential.

Done by injuries. A class player but he was all about that shift of pace and once your legs have been snapped that many times it's hard to get that back - he will need to reinvent his game I reckon.

I think its mainly because we didnt have anyone that could run round a player with the ball for about 10 years prior to him joining.

….a free transfer?

I don’t think anyone has ever paid a fee for him.

We gave him away for nothing despite him being in contract, although we have done that a lot!

He hit the bar with a worldy effort from 25 yards after ghosting past a couple of players. An inch lower and it would have been our goal of the season. Very talented player and he was excellent in that game so can't agree that he didn't do anything of note against Cheltenham. He never kicked on and injuries have massively impacted him but there's a reason he was highly rated at WBA and when he first joined us.

I was at the Cheltenham game and he didn't hit the bar in that game. Think it was game before.

What he did do at Cheltenham was pick up the ball drive past people almost at will. It was breathtaking at the time in flesh (as someone else said we hadn't had a player like probably since Geo).

Ultimately his end product and without the ball game was probably a bit lacking. But he was a brilliant player to watch with the ball at his feet.

Such a shame on the injuries and being a free agent. A Plymouth or a Huddersfield would be good for him.
