Personally I just can not believe we have seen Burgess go and Greaves in ahead of him. As a CB you have to attack the ball, not hope for a foul to be given, leave nothing to chance.

I honestly don’t know.
But if we don’t bring in another CM and atleast 1 ST by the end of the month we better hope that KM has a plan to get the best from JC etc. | |

We looked like what we are, a team that hasn't had enough time together on the training ground to be really clicking and having the fluency of a top-level team, we are also very much work in progress. The contrast with the way we played vs Sunderland first game of the season was quite marked. But we have the best manager possible, and he will get it sorted. To come away from that game and atmosphere with a point was a fantastic result.
Burgess was fantastic for us, but Greaves was the best defender in the league a year ago, and I suspect that Kieran will get him going and elevate his performances. I think we need a new goalkeeper, Palmer's kicking limitations mean we're not able to execute our usual pattern of play from the back, and i think it is also impacting our defence confidence.
We also have a lot of incomings to work on, as you say. Pressure is now very much on. |  | | |

Thought Greaves was our best player last night, was very shocked about the reaction to their disallowed goal. Very obvious foul on Greaves.
My concern is, albeit early, we have a lot of good players for the level. Without doubt. Im just not sure how many of them fit the system.

I found the lack of cohesion concerning given they've had quite long together now, imo. Maybe not on Saturday afternoons, but hundreds of hours in training, you'd imagine, between Clarke, Szmodics, Hirst, and the substitutes who came on. Yet Clarke and Szmodics don't appear particularly suited to their roles within the team, and Johnson doesn't appear suited to his.
A lot of those who have done wonders under KM clicked quite quickly into their roles, from memory. Leif, debut excluded, Luongo, Broadhead, Morsy, Burns, Chaplin, Hirst.. I don't remember them arriving as square pegs in round holes, being reshaped into something they originally weren't. Taylor is probably our best example of a player we haven't been able to reshape despite extensive training, and I worry a bit if others may soon provide real competition here.
Hopefully with more control in the middle we'll be able to turn a corner with these guys. They've demonstrated their talent before at this level under different systems. | | | |
