SHU - Could this be ITFC if we don't bounce straight back up? 19:18 - Aug 9 with 937 viewsTubbyToast

SHU failed to get promoted. after one year in the Championship.
Sacked manager,
Lots of ins and outs due to reflect less budget.
Looked poor tonight given their previous years' status.
Could this be ITFC if not promoted? Investment is time limited.

Sensible comments and debate only please!

No, Sheffield United were in trouble with their finances even with their Prem money and parachute payments. We should still be in a better place than they are. Of course, we will have to cut our cloth accordingly, but we should still be in a better position than they are if we're still in theis league next season.

Yes, of course it could. The league is littered with teams who haven’t managed to bounce back and then can’t get going again. Although it’s a bit early to write them off and we have the individual quality to go straight back up. But it’s certainly possible we might not go back up.

Yes it could be us. But its waaaay to early to even be thinking about that. We've had one game, one game where we've been under par. Please lets give itva few more before we even start to muse on such possibilities.

Could be. But I'm confident it won't be.

Maybe. Or maybe we'd be like Bournemouth or Leeds.

As others have said, Sheffield United are a bit of a mess who needed to go straight back up. Maybe not as much of a mess as Wednesday, but I'd like to think we're better positioned then them if we don't go up. I hope we don't have to find out!

We're not going to sack our very decent manager and replace him with Ruben Selles, so we should be fine.

Did anyone watch the game because the stats suggest Sheffield United should have won comfortably and that Bristol City somehow managed to score 4 goals frommvery few chances and quadrupled their expected xg.

Not looking for an Xg debate but shef united would win most times on balance of play so wouldn't read to much into one result anyway.

Stats never prove a lot in context of how a match is perceived.
Like our game. The stats showed not a lot in the two teams but every reporter thought that Brum dominated the game. Funny ol game Saint.

Having watched the match again we more than matched them and for most of the second half were camped in their half. We just didn't create clear cut chances but we were the better team and they had to resort to some awful fouls to try and stop us.

I thought they were much more front foot then us up until the goal. The were much more proactive in winning the ball back, higher tempo and more of the ball. However we allowed quite a lot of it (we were a bit too passive) and they didn't make many chances and even the goal in the end was very fortunate. They worked much harder. After the goal we were well on top. Dragged the balance over all back in our favour though we weren't making a lot of clear chances.

Summary: rubbish game
