Away from us.
We finally had our club back, we had a togetherness that I haven’t seen here for eons.
And now it feels like it’s all coming unstuck. I don’t think we will understand the impact of losing Morsy for a while, but adding to that Omari, Broadhead and potentially Wolfie wanting to leave then it feels like there is a huge disruption in the squad at the moment. Players came here, and stayed here, because of how amazing this group of players and staff is/are.
Then we move onto us lot, the reaction tonight has been astonishing, especially regarding specific players. In a under strength team, in a competition no one wants to win. I’ll be leaving here at 5:30am Sunday and I’m dreading it, it’s starting to feel like the old days already and I get the sense that if we go in behind at half time then the boos will ring out again for the first time in forever.
The wheels feel like they are coming off on this board, and potentially beyond and it’s honestly depressing. |  |

If Philogene wasn’t injured and the Akpom deal had been done sooner then Broadhead would have gone last week. We held off because we are down to the bare bones in certain positions. We are flogging Ogbene when he hasn’t played any football in nearly a year. That’s not ideal. |  |

I totally get what you are saying, but I think the approach the club are taking is - either Omari exits, or Broadhead does, but not both at the same time. | |

It will get better I’m sure. It’s been a very ordinary start, plus off the back of last season it’s a factor.
Confidence is clearly low and needs to be rebuilt, think it’s going to be rough for a while but going out tonight whether it’s meaningless or not just builds the narrative around us. |  | | |

Leeds last season got two points in their first two league games (Pomey at home and WBA away), they also got dumped out of the cup by Boro 3-0 at home. Then they started winning regularly.
We just need 4 points out of the next two somehow and knit things together a little more for everyone to calm down.
If we lost Sunday and don’t beat Preston I’ll be worried though and not sure this board will survive through to September at that point! |  |

We might literally have 3 more players in and 7 points out of 9 in a few weeks who knows. I’ve been critical of some elements of recruitment and I’m not sure this off season has gone to plan thus far but we need to relax a little! | |

It’s totally ok to be a bit frustrated by
The summer transfer window not delivering in key positions early enough to support pre season
The way Morsy was allowed to walk away without a new viable competitive midfield in place
Not be sold on the players we’ve brought in to replace outgoings at this stage
Two professional footballers at the club (OH and Broadhead) appearing to be on strike
How dislocated everything looks on the pitch after a relegation and a rebuild
The slightly abject start and the realisation that promotion contender performances are a way off
All i would say is
None of this flies in the face of the goodwill the club has generated in the last seasons and if anything they deserve the patience whilst they get this right, it’s clear nothing will feel quite right until Sept arrives, then we start to judge the actual coaching and team performances.
Meanwhile, we know from past experience
- MA is doing everything possible to rebuff low ball offers and secure the level of talent KMck identifies.
- KMcK is working tirelessly to re educate the new players and new squad in terms of what is required of them
- The squad shakes off any hangover of last season and reignites a desire for success.
In May we can look back a be very critical of the summer that was, or we see the progress for future success, or we celebrate how it all came together in the end to achieve the ultimate goal.
May is a long way to write stuff off in Aug! | |
