Didn't see food prices but in Beatties Bar I noticed that the beer price had jumped up considerably. Did anyone else notice the same?

Can't say I did but equally I can't actually remember the last time I bought any food or drink from the club. Much prefer to support the towns pubs pre and post match and never bother with a drink at half time.

What's the damage for a pint now?

6.95 for a pint of Level Head, I think it was 6.10 last season.

Gives your head a wobble at that price.

I try really hard not to get anything in the ground but sometimes fail…yesterday was one of those days.

A pie each and 1 JD and coke was £18.75. £7.50 for the JD, 330ml - even though I asked for a vodka coke but there we go, they’re £7, can get 4 in Tescos for that

Bought a sausage roll in the ground yesterday.

Price is the same as last season, but it's now about half the size!

That's less than you will pay for a pint in Radlett or much of central London.

Madness.

The club has enough money these days, rather put my hard earned in to the pockets of local landlords and ladies tbh.

Doesn't it make more sense to buy a sausage roll in town & stuff it in your pocket, rather than buy overpriced, substandard food in a football ground (same with most sporting events)?

Are you still allowed to take refreshments into the stadium?

I would never buy any food or drink inside the ground. Its a total rip off and a p*ss take.

Unless the searching is very serious, I reckon you could get away with a sausage roll or pasty.

I took two cups of coffee into the ground yesterday. The nice security person even held one of them while I took my glasses case out of my pocket to show him as it had pinged their electronic wand thing.

Someone in the queue next to me had a tray of chips they were taking in.

A line on this would thankfully be very hard for the club to draw. If they got it wrong, we might well witness "Goody-bag Gate", in which young person buys said goody-bag near the corner of Sir Alf's Way and is searched and relieved of it twenty paces later at SBR turnstile, leading to outcry and sugar starvation.

TBF I didn't think they were bad value last season and are actually very nice.

Not worth £4.99 now though.

Annnd the view of the pitch is worse.

(Well apart from those restricted view seats with the pillars...)

I can't see that the club would be all that bothered, though. It's probably very firmly on their radar that supporters can currently get water, crisps, popcorn, and a chocolate bar for less than the cost of a bottle of water in the ground.

If they feel that they can move to a 'no outside food/drink' policy, no doubt they will.

On the Visit Us section of the website, it actually states 'Please note that food purchased away from Portman Road will not be permitted in the ground.'

I can't believe this is actually enforced, nor should it be.

Yes you can take food and drinks in. The bags that they sell outside the ground with the newspaper, water, crisps and chocolate are well worth getting. They were £2 last season. I didnt get one yesterday so not sure if theyve increased in price or not.

Still £2, which surprised me to see - I was fully expecting them to have gone up to £2.50/£3.

I presume that Newsquest see them more as a way to massage their weekend circulation figures, rather than a direct money-maker.
