If we sign Caceras and Wolfie goes 17:32 - Aug 22 with 1132 views | Vic | I’ll be very sad. I’ve loved Wolfie’s style since the day I saw him on his debut many moons ago. So classy. But, romantic stuff aside, am I right in thinking that replacing him with an established Uroguayan international actually strengthens the squad stronger over all? [Post edited 22 Aug 17:33]

Hah! What he went through should be a lesson in patience to us all. Sadly, some on here probably won't even know his name.

I have always thought that he gets turned frighteningly easy, and switches off too often. With the ball in front of him, he’s fine, good distributor of the ball, but up close and with players turning him, too vulnerable. But, I’d be sad to see him go for emotional reasons.

Quite agree with you. Overrated as a centre back in my view ( Mckenna clearly doesn't crate him because he rarely plays him and hit in O'Shea). But Woolfenden is put on a pedestal primarily because hes come through the academy. He's "easy on the eye", but lacks so much as a centre back (heading ability, physical presence in the box, commanding his opponent in the box, tackling, pace). He " walks" the ball out of defence and generally passed it to hus right 2 meters so our build up from defence is so slow. Cue the down votes, couldnt give a sh it.... hes not good enough

Personal opinion is that would be a valid criticism in the early days of McKenna but I think he's improved massively on that score. He hasn't switched off as much when getting the chance over the past couple of seasons and has been far more accomplished in not being turned either.

One thing to note: I've never seen a player intercept so many balls into the box from wide. He's always in the right position. An underrated skill.

He's "put on a pedestal" because he's been a good player for us who has rarely let us down under McKenna. It's all personal opinion of course but, for me, some haven't got over his performances under Lambert, which I get as he certainly had some issues. But I think he's developed under McKenna and hopefully he'll continue to grow and make his mark presumably elsewhere.
