Egeli, plus a CM and a CF.... 13:30 - Aug 26 with 6945 viewsitfcjoe

...plus a replacement for Woolfenden if he does go

Feels like the minimum we need to do - will we get it all done?

Hamer at £15m seems such an obvious choice too…
But no idea on wages, so that’s likely the issue

We were linked to Hamer last summer. Would love to see him in a Town shirt. Has that creative energy that could transform this side.

Several saying that Eagle Eye is going to be converted to a 9. Ala Delap. Has this lad actually played as a 9? Or it's just the logic that if Delap can do it.... so can this lad.
Think I might prefer AAH as a third back up, rather than relying on a young kid new to this game in this country making a transition from his natural position. I think it's daft to bring in this lad for a lot of money.... and then ask him to change position. Huge, huge risk. If he's comfortable playing as a 9 with his back to goal, holding up the ball and running the channels - then fine.... but I haven't heard that yet.
Hence, if we can't rely on AAH, we'll need another 9.

He played his whole youth career as a 9. Believe it was only his current club that recently converted him into a right sided player.

Not having seen much but watched his highlights reel a couple of times, he looks very much like a prototype Delap to me, in that he's very busy, aggressive and he leans into his running quite directly at defenders bringing a bit of chaos but still with pretty good close control and leaning into the contact to use his strength.

He seems a bit more of a team player than the Delap we saw too. Seems to want to pick it up quite deep and run at players too, a la Delap. How that all translates to the Championship remains to be seen (hopefully).

I wouldn't say Delap was converted particularly, he had generally been seen as a centre forward from a young age and spent most of his youth football there both for City and England. Breaking in to the mens game as a lone #9 is hard without being chewed up, so I think it was more a case of him finding his opportunities in other roles, particularly at Stoke and Hull, but it always felt like he was destined to be a centre forward with his profile. When we signed him my instinct is we were open minded, but injury to Hirst forced our hand a bit and the rest as they say is history.

I see similar in Egeli, largely an out and out forward in youth football but played off the right more lately in senior. Give him a couple of seasons and I think he's leading the line, but at 19 I can see why that might not be a day 1 role. Ultimately we've got a lot of versatility across the 10 - 12 attacking players which is a good thing. I think it'll be Egeli + 1 CM and maybe a bit defensively depending on Woolfy situation.

Egeli seems a like for like for Omari, would love to see this over the line.

Got a feeling we maybe look to a CF like Hornby in Germany. Will know Hirst, a big, similar striker to Hirst and would give us that depth up top.

The debacle in the CM position is mad, just glad we’ve got Jens in and Azor is finding his feet now.
