Woolfy on 20:25 - Aug 27 by FrimleyBlue | No, O'shea plays the skipper CB role and continues to be first choice CB, Wolfy is back up RCB which hasn't been covered for as yet Kipre and Greaves are the lCB options. |
Well we don’t have cover in Morsy’s role yet so we’re back to the original question why was he allowed to leave?

Woolfy on 20:24 - Aug 27 by FrimleyBlue | That doesnt mean that Morsy hadn't been replaced, he had. What we haven't done yet is replace phillips. |
Neither Phillips or Luongo were under contract, so we had little choice but let them go (suppose we could have offered Mass a contract). I guess you could argue Humphreys' return offset Luongo. But Morsy was under contract. The club were in a position to tell him to sit tight, at least until we had brought in adequate cover.

Woolfy on 20:31 - Aug 27 with 559 views | JammyDodgerrr | Wasn't it heavily rumoured that he was the source of the team leaks when he isn't in the team anyway? He seems to have been an unhappy camper for a long time now but going like this is a bit ridiculous.

Woolfy on 19:45 - Aug 27 by pointofblue | The only thing I can think of is he, and/or the club, thought O'Shea would be off upon relegation, and he was told he would be first choice in that scenario. He didn't mind being a squad player in the Premier League, but wants more in the Championship. Obviously it hasn't worked out that way. But I wonder what would instigate this post now? Has he been told he has to stay warming a seat in the stands because we cannot make a deal for Caceres? I have more sympathy for him than the likes of Hutchinson or, at Newcastle, Isak, who are key players throwing their toys out of the pram rather than someone in the reserves seeking first team football. And he has, up to now, kept himself available for the squad which is more than can be said about those two. It's also an added issue when we let the club captain go for nothing, without ensuring we have cover, yet tell other players to accept it. I wonder whether that's why he was in the squad on Saturday, leaving us with only one central midfielder as back up; to try and placate him slightly? Did McKenna ever reference the lack of Humphreys? Am I missing something? Didn't Azor sign before we formally let Morsy go?

If Morsy was still here do you think Taylor would be playing ahead of him? Forget Matusiwa for a moment. Who would be our second central midfielder if Morsy was still here?

in the previous games it would have been morsy, however it could easily have been hackney had he not turned us down, and cajuste had he signed earlier. What we did have in place though was morsys actual replacement hence morsy being allowed to leave.

But we don't have Phillips' replacement and therefore we are low on numbers. Would you accept that, from Morsy's departure (possibly even before that) onwards, we've lacked depth in central midfield?

Well we do if we need it taylor, cajuste, humphreys, worse case Johnson, Kipre, Young, Not sure why you're finding it difficult to appreciate that morsys replacement was in the building 2 weeks before we allowed him to leave, just because we didn't replace the OTHER midfielders doesn't mean we hadn't replaced morsy

You can’t read pal. I said we didn’t have cover in Morsy’s role, we have Elkan Baggott in Woolfy’s role but he’s not good enough. The fact you’ve listed 3 players that don’t play centre midfield says it all.

Because consider pure numbers. In midfield, at the time of Morsy's depature we had Matusiwa, Taylor and Humphreys to cover central midfield. Three players. If we left Woolfenden go now, we have O'Shea, Greaves and Kipre to cover central defence. Three players. I hope you're not suggesting we could approach a league game with one or more of Johnson, Kipre or Young playing there?

You said cover so i've given you cover as worse case requirements, you naming baggott a left footed lcb who's never played a cameo at rcb isnt the same. It's quite simple imo Morsy, Gaffa i can;t get the deal i want, but i've had this from abroad KM - i need a new morsy ashton, got one km fab morsy can go with our best wishes ashton, ok i'll sort and get sorting out the 'other' midfielders km excellent, azor is perfect ashton, i left no stone unturned km btw wolfy wants to go ashton how do you feel about it km i need a back up rcb first ashton ok we'll try km wolfy as soon as we get a rcb in you're free to go wolfy, waaaah km now now ashton, got one but i think i can get him cheaper km ok wolfy, any news only a week to go km not yet, we are trying wolfy, waaah im going onto socials km please don't other wise people will ask who replaced morsy before i let him go wolfy, well that was azor km apparently not according to twtd wolfy, waaaah

I wonder if the club has decided the Caceres deal is not worth it, and told Woolfenden he'll have to stay put until at least January. Particularly if Ashton/McKenna want to focus on Nunez, Egeli, whoever the striker might be, and we should be after a left back.
