Woolfy on 19:43 - Aug 27 by Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | I feel like our CBs that came through the leagues got the worst of it really as they were pretty good when called upon last year, that said he signed a contract in January, knowing who was at the club at the time. |
I think Burgess can feel hard done by. Greaves was new and shiny and cost £15m but I can’t really see that he’s a better player particularly, in some respects a lesser one IMO. Still got time on his side and has the attributes, but you have to wonder in hindsight if we’d afforded big Cam that opportunity whether we would be any worse off? With Woolfy, as much as I rate him I think O’Shea is a big step up personally.

Woolfy on 19:46 - Aug 27 by chantryblueboy | We have no idea how often these things are done under gentlemen’s agreements though, given we only find out about these things when they are broken. Would imagine agents know far more about ‘the done thing’ than anyone on here |
If you want to protect his ability to move on you make sure there’s a mechanism that allows for it. If you seed that to the clubs discretion that’s the risk you’re taking.

IF it's true that he feels locked up etc What annoys me is these players have seen us allow players to leave when we've felt comfortable to do so. It's not the club being petty. What I would love to say to these types of players, have some respect for the manager that effectively transformed you into what you feel you became.

O'Shea is slightly quicker and stronger in the air. As a player in the McKenna system, going forwards inparticular, I have my doubts. Like a lot of signings we've made since promotion, better individuals but need them to work as a unit.

We let Morsy go for free without even getting a replacement in first - and, with five days left of the window, still scrambling for at least one more central midfielder. Yet other players, who are not even in the first team, have to put up and shut up. I can see why there might be resentment there.

He's not an older player getting a move to the middle east, so no comparison at all.

From the club's point of view, it should be no difference. If we're desperate to keep cover in place at centre back then surely we should be desperate to keep cover in place for central midfield too. And Morsy would have probably started had he stayed, so 'cover' is a stretch when it comes to him.

People think the worst, but it might just be a song which had significance for two lads who were in the Youths together.

We did have a replacement - azor, 2 weeks before morsy left, cajuste replaces cajuste, humphreys replaces luongo, we just haven't upgraded on taylor yet.

Woolfy on 19:45 - Aug 27 by pointofblue | The only thing I can think of is he, and/or the club, thought O'Shea would be off upon relegation, and he was told he would be first choice in that scenario. He didn't mind being a squad player in the Premier League, but wants more in the Championship. Obviously it hasn't worked out that way. But I wonder what would instigate this post now? Has he been told he has to stay warming a seat in the stands because we cannot make a deal for Caceres? I have more sympathy for him than the likes of Hutchinson or, at Newcastle, Isak, who are key players throwing their toys out of the pram rather than someone in the reserves seeking first team football. And he has, up to now, kept himself available for the squad which is more than can be said about those two. It's also an added issue when we let the club captain go for nothing, without ensuring we have cover, yet tell other players to accept it. I wonder whether that's why he was in the squad on Saturday, leaving us with only one central midfielder as back up; to try and placate him slightly? Did McKenna ever reference the lack of Humphreys? I feel sorry for Woolfy. He's been brilliant for us for so long. Who knows if it's what people think it is though. Could be about Downes wanting to come here! Must be a tough period for Woolfy with all of this uncertainty. Suspect he's been told he can't go unless we get the replacement over the line. No one's fault in a way.

Woolfy on 19:24 - Aug 27 by Scoob94 | Pretty tragic if you ask me. Don’t sign a contract in January if you don’t wanna be here and going to be petty on social media. |
Or, he might just be thinking ‘hold on, Sam signed a 2 year deal and they’ve let him fck off for free as a fcking thank you!’

Point taken. The certain clip of lyrics he chose would say otherwise but it could be.

Sorry Frimmers, but Taylor is not to the standard we need. If Morsy was here, he'd be starting alongside Matusiwa due to our lack of depth in the position. If/when we bring in James or Cook then fine, but we're not there yet, and I would go as far to suggest we have dropped points because of it.

That doesnt mean that Morsy hadn't been replaced, he had. What we haven't done yet is replace phillips.

No, O'shea plays the skipper CB role and continues to be first choice CB, Wolfy is back up RCB which hasn't been covered for as yet Kipre and Greaves are the lCB options.
