Quite liked McAteer - much more direct than whatever Philogene was attempting when he switched to the right. Azon looked lively with a good touch. Probably going to have to go on a mad League 1 run of wins to get close to the top at this rate mind. Particularly if teams continue to play anti-football against us.

I don't think Philogene suits playing on the right hand side, he never looked good for Hull there either. I imagine that's what we've brought in Egeli.

I thought his performance today was a disgrace. Clarke only knows how to cut inside which is a defenders dream. Leif being inside is having zero affect Hirsts touch and link up play was terrible, then misses that header ‘DIS IS WHAT I DOOOO’ For all the hype about getting Jens, he’s got to be 10 times better than he was today

We have to look at recruiting a different type of player, a player with a different set of physical attributes” Obviously yet to see SWE and Nunez but I’m struggling to see where these physical players are. We look so small and so fragile.

Philogene was similar cost to Hutchinson, who could massively influence games. I am mystified why we chased him for so long and paid so much? Really burns me, so much money. Must be all potential? Where as Omari was basically the finished article after bedding in for 3 months.

I thought McAteer was fairly poor. His first touch is dreadful.

He was poor, first half he had the chance to influence the game multiple times.

He has probably had a lot more service.

I don’t like us hamstringing Leif. He was arguably our star player in our promotion season. He’s something like the fullback with the most assists or goal contributions over the last 3 years in the top 4 leagues. Even in the prem some of his forward stats were up with the best. Why change that? I’d be playing someone like Sammie in an inside right position, pretty much a second number 10 alongside someone like Chappers and leave the space on the left to Leif. Or even firm up the midfield a bit, with a third in there and leave out the left wing altogether (that was how Broady operated a lot of the time).

Absolutely, that said, SS just doesn’t look right in this team. He looks an individual

Today was so important to win and regroup for so many reasons, it might be the worst result in the McKenna era in many ways, sounds like I’m overstating it but it’s a really bad one.

Mate, £12m he cost. And there wasn’t anything there that seemed £12m worth of effectiveness

Smacked of a signing that said we don’t learn our lessons from last year.
