We're not at anything like the level we need to be, and following on from last season we need to see some improvements soon.
But if you're calling for him to be sacked after 4 games of a new season, then you're a pretty crap supporter to be completely honest, especially when it's pretty clear we've been missing some key additions and with one new CM getting up to speed and starting with our 4th or 5th choice in the other CM position until yesterday.

When we got promoted from league 1 everyone said some of the players are not good enough for championship and we replaced them, same when we got promoted to Premiership. But anyone saying the management and training capacity and club recruitment and decision making is not good enough for the higher division is shut down and acussed of being negative. It was demonstrated last season they were not up to it. All those decisions on recruitment, strength training, tackticks, etc were made within our existing management structures. So even if this is their level and we get promoted, why will it be different next time. There is no evidence whatsoever that there is a capacity to learn and get better at that level. In fact the evidence points to the opposite. I'm no negative bed wetter and have supported the club for 50 years and actually think we have no better options at the moment than to carryon with the current vision. I also lived through the SBR years when loyalty paid dividends to our club. But the blinkered narrative around credit in the bank and belittling those that see it differently wont help us get back to where we should be, which is beating Barcelona 3.0 at PR. |  | | |

End of the day the only numbers that count is the score at the end of the game. xG don’t win you points. |
Whilst this is true, we can often find individual matches where the xG is vastly opposite to the result. Can you find me any examples where that is replicated across a season? E.g. a relegated side has positive xG, a promoted side has negative xG, etc across a season. I would imagine there would be a fairly good correlation between overall season xG and final league positions. |  |

I thought the first two results were fine but did temper that with we need to win some matches soon after. Preston was disappointing but there are few teams that will go there and come away with a win. Leicester have already lost there, I think. I felt it was probably 1 point dropped rather than 3 and so not a disaster. However, drawing with Derby was definitely two points dropped. The point snatched at the end could end up being critical but so could the two dropped from a winning position due to some very ordinary defending.
My fears are tempered with the prospect of the new signings but we are putting a lot on the shoulders of a couple of young players and one who has signed from our local rivals. It could easily go very wrong but it equally could go very right. Here's hoping it's the latter! | |
