Good fee or a sad day?

Has the bank put the transaction through twice? Happened to me in a pub in Somerset a couple of weeks ago, really annoying.

if that is true, it's both a good fee and a sad day!

all depends on what was promised to him when he signed his deal.

if he hadn't signed, we'd have got 4m less!

Sad to see him go. I also reckon he's worth more than that. But what do I know! Clearly those who know more about football players than I do don't think so. If we is as good as I think he is then more clubs would have been after him. Probs says a lot that there's not much of a queue.

McKenna hasn't really done a good job in inflating his value. I'm surprised more teams didn't go in for him at £4m, admittedly.

Yep. That's where I'm at too.

I'm not sure I'm down with all of the comments expressing how great he is though. A little revisionalist perhaps.
Yes, a decent defender but in no way irreplacable. I think the Town connection weighs heavier than his actual ability. That is of course a fine connection to make.
His recent behaviour has tarnished his reputation a little for me.
Overall I'll be more sad when it's time for Chappers to move on.

Heard it was £140 million and a new British transfer record, trumping Isak’s £125 million earlier today.

£4m is probably a couple of million short, and a decent snipe by Coventry.

It is better than him having left for nothing before signing that new deal though, and far better to not have him moping about the place unable to move and not fully committed.

Its being quoted as a £4m 'package' suggests there are additional playing related fees.

I presume its 'easily attainable' i.e appearance related rather than international caps though

We will probably have a sell on, just incase he does a prime Beckenbauer impression.

People seem to be forgetting that in the Championship promotion season we conceded a shedload of goals, we just scored loads too. 4-3 v Rotherham, two defeats v Leeds where we shipped four, 4-2 v Preston, 3-2 v Cardiff, 3-3 with Hull, 4-3 v Blackburn, 3-2 v Bristol City, 3-2 v Saints, 2-2 at Brum, 2-2 at Rotherham etc.

Clean sheets were a rarity.

Maybe others are right. Maybe I'd o over-rated Woolfenden slightly as I'm amazed there hasn't been a small bidding war of he's available for £4m. OK, not excessive, but maybe taking his fee up to around £6m.

Perhaps you're right and he's being allowed to choose where he wants to go, because he allowed us to bring in a few in the first place by signing a contract in January.

would make sense for all parties:-

we're covered if leeds etc took o'shea
wolf gets a good move
we get a transfer fee rather than the sweet fa we got for axel and burg

Based on McAteer's value on there, we should be selling Woolfenden for £12.5m.
