I think most decent fans would appreciate a statement from Ashton and ownership about what the 5-year plan is now.

Its clear we needed to upgrade on last season but im not sure we expected such seismic changes, even if some players made it clear they didn't want to stay.

The Americans sold off a portion of the club in our promotion year and I wouldn't be surprised if they are looking to reduce the burden on the pension fund.

I can understand why McKenna has the pulling power. He has rightly earned the credit in the bank, but given the club shaped the training ground and the ground upgrades around him, he needs to prove that this team is better than the last promotion side in terms of togetherness and tactical nous against teams that will park the bus at 1-0. A very interesting Autumn awaits starting with a must win at home to a poor Sheffield United side.

Although denials I believe Brightpath wish to be the largest investor I would imagine they would have their own ideas on how the club is run I guess only time will tell if it is true ref Brightpath wanting a larger chunk.

Msg to OP. The owner did not sell any of their holding last year. Last year, new - additional - money was injected into the club by new investors. Alongside the existing.

I'd rather he ran the club and bought players. Which I expect is what he's been doing.

Trying to work out at which point elements of our support went from fans to massively entitled crybabies.

Why do you need a 5 year plan? The board have made the following statements through actions:

- Supported the manager in the last 18 months with close to £200M invested in playing staff.
- Invested in Portman Road development updating facitilies, including working with the council around discussions relating to stadiunm expansion
- commited to improving the training ground and gained planning permission
- moved us to a cat 1 academy status
- further invested in the community links / engagement

Having a 3 or 5 or 10 year written plan does not work in football, however having a number of activities underway which are incrementally improving the club are important.

All the above are statements of intent through actions to improve the club on and off the pitch.

It’s closer to £200 million spent.

It’s obvious there is no plan.

‘We tried to buy young English players, knowing we couldn’t keep them if we were successful, and would lose them if we weren’t’

That’s McKenna! - he doesn’t know what the plan is. So if you find out, let him know.

Short term.., for Ashton and McKenna it’s self preservation.., signing a Norwich player helps.., it’s the only time we’ve seen Ashton all summer!

Were you this critical of the Evans regime?

Now there was a ‘no plan’ situation!

What about the indecent fans?

Why bother with worrying about the Indecent fans, they won't be around long enough? They're just a flash in the pan.

Apologies for awful dad joke.

You’re right in one respect. Kieran does need to prove himself. Not in terms of credit in the bank which he’s still got in spades imo, but if he wants to kick on in the business, either here or elsewhere, that will be a lot easier if he can reinvent our team and challenge again. The best mangers can, time and time again (Sir Bobby, Sir Fergie, etc). He’s had a lot of money. It’s time to deliver otherwise this phase of his career will be seen as a failure by many. There are no free hits now.

No pressure Kieran! 🙈

I suspect now it’s international break and the transfer window has shut that Ashton will turn up on Town TV at some point to discuss the summer just gone and the rationale behind some of the decisions.

What you said about SBR is a very good point. By my reckoning he built four teams here:

69-72 To become a stabilised top division team
72-75 To build on that, to become established, and to progress in all competitions
75-78 To start pressing for honours, culminating with the FA Cup win
78-82 To make a concerted effort for honours, establishing us one of the top teams in the country.

Each one about 3 to 4 years in length, so changes happening now is probably about right on that sort of timetable.
