Great poll. I expect the answer depends very much on age. I am sure that, had I been of an age to watch them, the Division 1, UEFA Cup or FA Cup winning sides would be the tops. My highlight as a fan was Wembley in 2000, though.
I started watching in 1986 so saw the 1992 and 2000 promotions. But the team I 'like the best' is the 2024 Championship promotion winning side, the camaraderie and spirit taking the division almost by storm after the League 1 promotion was awesome.

But '78 - Beattie and Hunter at their peak, Woods, Talbot (shame about the Viljoen spat, would we have won the final by more than one goal with him in the team ?) Whymark (although he missed the final), Osborne with that iconic goal.

We all remember this team but what amazes me ask anyone old enough to remember football before the premier league from any other club and mention the Ipswich team from the early 80s and most will be able to name these players verbatim.
I can't name more than three or four players from Liverpool's champions team last season.

I think you’re misreading the room. This hasn’t anything to do with what was won, but the players that made up the team in that year.

Their team was also full of players who played a huge amount of games for the club. Clemence, Hansen, Thompson, Sounness, McDermott, Dalglish spring to mind but also Sammy Lee, Ray Kennedy, Phil Neal. Different days in terms of turnover. I’m sure a lot of Liverpool fans think of that team most fondly.

Or it might just be the fact the 81 team was our best ever, when we won the FA cup that good side was only just starting to come together.

I’ve not been able to answer this with any level of credibility! I didn’t see anything before late ‘80s. Clearly those teams that came before are the best ever in terms of level and delivery. The result here becomes more a test of age profile answering the question. Personally, I loved that the teams from the 90s/00s had to go through real building and probably stuck together longer because the transfer market wasn’t what it is now and those memories endure championship fails to PL and then back to Europe. However, in terms of pure enjoyment these last few years hit heights never seen before, sharing those memories with friends and kids has been fabulous, being able to watch away games from overseas, and watch games at 30000 ft over Asia, this is a different time for the club, and this is still our time given the financial clout we retain going into the next few seasons.

The pitch invasion at the end was magnificent, Town fans from every stand covered every blade watching as a young and impressionable 7 year old from the stand made me realise this was and is my team

For me the 81 team, I was at secondary school and surrounded by Liverpool and Forest fans. For years we could compete with them.
The Play Off winning team also holds a special place in my memories, after all those successive failures ,being at Wembley for the win over Barnsley remains my favourite game ever.
