Well, it certainly wasn't 'off the cuff'.
That said, I think KM nearly gave away more than he had intended early in the interview, which was interesting.
Certainly no hard hitting questions, was hardly Paxman'esq but that's not a huge surprise is it? |
I'd say there was a lot more interesting lines of questioning and greater depth of responses than in the average Paxman. Somebody who deeply understands the subject interviewing the two people in charge of making things happen.
What hard-hitting questions weren't asked? Difficulties of the transfer window? Letting favourite players go? Not having won so far? Issues with gelling? All covered. |  |

Could have asked how every other club is managing with gelling , many of them also have new managers, the physicality that we were supposed to be putting into the team, the changes in back room staff , the use of one formation and set of tactics, which other teams quickly combat and use a low block against week in week out, the subsequent total lack of goals from open play. F*** people asking how to combat the low block, it’s an issue for every team that tries to play attacking football. It’s easy to put 10 big lumps behind a ball then hit and hope on a break, but if I see us doing that on a regular basis I’ll stop going.
We’re going about this the right way, one of the most important aspects of that interview was, for all his b***** talk…Ashtons comment about unity and the minute that’s lost so is the future.
Clearly the transfer window was difficult and that’s not McKennn’s fault but he’s the one that takes the flak when we’ve essentially got players who’ve not even played a game together yet!
Definitely tempering side expectations but if the top brass understands it and is supportive then that’s all part of an ongoing process of building this club.
