What a player! Such a workrate and playing it simple. Certainly making us tick!

Azor the razor, the way he snapped into the defender and cut out the ball to win the lay off for Jack Clarke to run on to and score was frightening.

The best compliment I can pay him is that he looked tonight like an even better Morsy.

Getting better every game.

Just one area needs tweaking, to stay calm after a great tackle. He did it twice tonight, great tackle & wins the ball, and then passed it straight to a SU player. But KM will work on that.

Yep, improving with every game.

Not quite as good driving forward as Samy, but when you’re effectively a one-man added layer of defence across the whole pitch, you can let Jens & Nuno drive forward.

I was watching with my boys. My eldest isn’t the best technically but is disciplined and ok in the tackle so plays defence (U12s). I pointed out Matu at the beginning of the game and just said ‘watch this guy mate, look at what he does and how important he is with what he does.’

First few comments were along of the lines of ‘he’s only doing a tackle’ or ‘he just out is foot in the way’. By the end of the game it was ‘look how he just nudged him off with his bum and then passed to xx’ or ‘wow, he was behind him and got it with out a foul’. By the end of the game it was ‘so you think I could do that Dad’.

Noticing the beauty in being a tormenting little arsehole (Matu and my lad) was great to see and wonderful seeing a kid notice the work and skill involved in that Morsey/Matu/ role

I thought he was brilliant, such energy, tenacity, a couple of times it looked like a player had got away, but he never gives up and amazingly seemed to nick the ball back from behind without fouling. I was impressed from his arrival and he is getting better and better game by game, I think he’ll be a huge player for us. Jaden was always going to get MOTM (thoroughly deserved) but this guy does requires a special mention. He looked so genuinely happy in the celebrations which was lovely to see!

Yes, my thoughts too. And that's a helluva compliment. Matu reads the game very well, is very quick and strong into the tackle, and he has the crucial, instinctive body positioning skills that he can seem to make a tackle from an awkward angle without fouling the opponent. He's a monster, going to be immense in the game I think.

Morning lovely people. I’m glad someone has created this thread because that was my intention this morning of someone hadn’t.

Goes under the radar does this guy. He’s not your Flash Harry how taking on player after player , scoring incredible goals and perhaps never will be but he allows others to do so

His work rate and determination and even reading of the game is immense. His strength is another level. Cut out that wayward pass that happens every no and again and this guy has premier league written all over him

My favourite player this season already by a country mile
