A word for Leif. He was absolute class tonight. Making those overlaps. Pulling defenders out of position. Him and Jaden beginning to work that left side really well. These relationships take time like all good things. That will have done his confidence the world of good.

I think and hope, that Leif, Hirst and even Harry Clarke continue to be integral parts of this new Town team. Having been on the journey they know how Kmc works and how he achieves success.
Their experiences will benefit this new group without doubt.

Leif’s confidence and therefore form was quite heavily knocked in the Prem, including getting singled out on MotD.

It clearly affected him and it’s a test of his character if he can play his way through it and back into form & confidence. Last night showed he’s well on the way to doing just that.

He come in for lots of criticism last season, he’s always played high up the pitch and his side was clearly targeted in the premiership. I was worried we might not see the best of him after last season. But last night he was superb Yes Philogene stole the headlines and rightly so, but Davis looked to be back to his best. Hopefully teams will now be petrified of Philogene coming back inside and we’ll see him exploiting the space that will be available.

Yes, and his pace when he ran past Philogene for two of his goals was phenomenal if you watch that aspect of the goal clips. Defender froze a little because of it.

The other thing I really noticed with Leif is that he is really stepping up as a leader on the pitch, with his arm round Philogene and particularly Nunez on a number of occasions talking very calmly and authoritatively to them. And you could see that they were both really listening to him as well. It was very striking to me, and very 'leadership group' type stuff.

I think the only criticism that can be made of Davis last night was that sometimes he was running forward so strong and fast that he arrived in the top left corner before anyone else (including the Sheffield United defence) and was in danger of getting our moves flagged for offside. It would have been dangerous for him to pull up quickly at that speed, mind.

Leif needs more appreciation. A fooking ever present, loyal, exceptional pro and dynamic player who epitomises everything we are now. An absolute machine who loves the club.

WHERE IS HIS SONG??

It's weird how some players get songs (Ladapo was in the SKM song!?!?!) and others don't.

Matt Holland never had a song. That's mad!

Here is a really simple suggestion for Leif:

To the tune of "Sailing" by Rod Stewart

Lee-eif Da-vis
Lee-eif Da-vis
Lee-eif Da-vis
Down the wing
Lee-eif Da-vis
Lee-eif Da-vis
Lee-eif Da-vis
Assist King!

Well known. Simple. Anthemic.

Better than him not having a song.

Thats a really good point - teams cautiously compensating for BillyJean to come inside could easily get caught out by Leif on the outside. That hatrick couod have bigger repercussions on our season than just one game!
