You don’t have to go GB news, there were plenty of independent auditors there doing their thing and asking multiple people why they were there! Very few of them even mentioned Robinson!
This narrative that anyone with a different view to certain posters on here that they must be far right fascist extremists is getting boring now,is it beginning to dawn on you that YOU might actually be in the minority but just shout the loudest?

You’re completely wrong saying majority there are racist. You’re basing it on hyperbole

Well the majority want to stop the boats, but not because people are drowning. It's dangerous nationalism and there have been no calls for the WHITE Ukranians to be returned. Yeah but it's not racism, right?

A minority? There was up to 150000 following little Stephanie Yaxley yesterday. That's about 0.2% of the population.

Well council elections and a certain parties surge in the polls seem to differ from your opinion doesn’t it?
By your metric the marches for Palistine are only supported by a minority of the population as well then?

I wasn't there so im not going to speculate as to what the motivations are of the people who went. The only point I am making is it went off a lot more peacefully than the Palestine Action march last week. Sorry that seems to be hard to accept for some!

Isn’t that because Palestine Action are considered a terrorist organisation and anyone expressing support for them - such as wearing a T-shirt etc - was instantly arrested. Unfortunately, most of those racist c**ts out today, are not considered to belong to a terrorist organisation.

And you knew that but you just wanted to stick up for the flag shagging Neanderthals. Well done you.

Of course you are correct, however: “ It added that a further 33 were arrested for other offences, with 17 of those detained on suspicion of assaulting officers. The Met Police did not say what the other 16 arrests were for.”

I’ve seen some total tw@terry on TikTok this morning from the ‘protest’ - genuinely concerned for the future, there’s no reasoning with the level of stupid on show, best we can do is be inclusive and understanding of their disposition- but how do you do that when it’s so hate fuelled and harmful?

I don't understand what people see in Farage. I mean, he announces how he will stop the boats. Experts claim it won't work but even if it does it will

A) cost upwards of £30bn
B) cause us to breach the EU trade deal
C) break the good Friday agreement
D) force us to leave multiple international treaties making us a pariah on the world stage causing untold future damage

It will, in short, ruin the country and, even if successful, will stop around 50k Brown people from coming hereoon the boats, around 10% of net migration.

The fact that people think that the boat crossings are this country's biggest problem shows how clever Farage is I guess.

The atmosphere at the two protests looked quite different to me from news reports. But then I wasn’t there and news outlets will always sensationalise any trouble. I don’t really see the point of having a league table of arrests/police injuries, whatever. I’d draw the line at violence and condemn anyone who goes to any protest to cause trouble, whatever the cause (although there’s a separate debate around whether/when violence is acceptable).

As for the causes. It saddens me that far too many people turned out yesterday for a cause rooted in intolerance and racism (yes, it is rooted in racism but that doesn’t make everyone attending a racist). But it’s people’s right to peacefully protest. As long as they do that without trying to set fire to migrant hotels or calling for migrants to be burnt to death we have to accept their democratic right to protest, even for those of us who disagree and don’t understand it (especially for those of us). But that doesn’t mean we have to sit back and say nothing - this is a dangerous, divisive cause led by racist criminals. People need to know that and think carefully before supporting them.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Okay - I went there as an observer (not a supporter of either march) with two others (one retired Police Officer and the other was a Journalist) yesterday. We stayed inside a building in Stamford Street, SE1 yesterday and watched for 3 hours as the 20 person wide march passed our building at a fast walking pace. It was still passing when we left to go to the Trafalgar Square area 3 hours later and the rear of the march was still at Waterloo. The numbers were way more than the 150k reported and consisted of men, women, children and mixed ethnicity groups including Maori's. There was a Bishop, priests, people in wheelchairs and a real diverse mix (not all shaven headed, heavily tattooed thugs with broken noses as reported in The Mail). Near Trafalgar Square I saw large groups from both main march's break away from the minimal Police escorts and confrontations occurred. Police then belatedly attempted to separate the groups - small groups from both sides were causing the problems. The Anti-Racists/Antifa faction that broke away were mainly masked and were hostile and so were the non-masked faction from Robinson's march. It was a lot of shouting, pushing and some objects were thrown. It was then all over after some arrests from both sides. Police failed to properly control both march's and the flashpoint's then occurred. I've seen worse trouble at Portman Road!

I always wonder why people don't notice that the 'facts' right wingers use to just their opinions are often proven to be false. If they had a legit point surely they could use actual facts to prove it.

They also love free speech as long as it is about them being able to say hateful stuff. I notice people in some federal jobs are being sacked in America if they post anything about the Kirk murder that suggests he wasn't a lovely guy.

Musk removed fact checking from twitter (because right wing hate speech is often based on lies) and replaced it with community notes. One of his posts got flagged with a community note so he got the way notes work changed.

I mean, if you have to stoop so low to make your point it suggests your point is rubbish doesn't it?

SYL is just a disgust thug. Only recently beat a bloke unconscious and scarpered. Pretty obvious what kind of people follow someone like him.

Thank you.

For your balanced reporting from your viewpoint as an observer with a retired policeman and a journalist.

Very heartening to hear of the diversity amongst the peaceful march that has been belittled with reports downplaying the numbers involved.

Very worrying to hear about the nasty masked protagonists on the smaller march.

And well done you, for being able to provide such a thorough overview of the day’s proceedings across both marches from your single vantage point.

Again, thank you.

The Mail has been pushing the anti immigrant narative to these people for years, so seems a bit strange. Obviously the owners of The Mail despise these people but it’s their core readership.

You still can’t get your head around the fact people can live with legal immigrants coming here to contribute to the system can you? It’s the illegal influx that even this government has finally admitted is the problem but hay ho live in your own little bubble👍
