Any of you 'football lads' there?

Are you seriously calling me a racist? Please answer

You chose to spend a late summer afternoon hanging out with racists. Only you can definitively say why.

The racists were literally on the stage and you haven't mentioned that once in your "neutral" reflections.

When you go to a football match do you also usually hang around under the stand and not watch the football?

….And then claim you are not a football fan!?

What actually did you have interest in then? The rally was organised by a known racist criminal, and he invited self proclaimed white supremacists to address the crowd.

Which bit of the March being organised by a racist thug SYL, with guest speakers Steve Bannon (racist) Katie Hopkins (racist) Laurence Fox (racist) do you think we have a problem with.

Why would anyone in good conscience attend such a rally organised by racists with guest speakers who are racists??

What do you make of all the black players at Town? You must be outraged.

....it's becoming a parody of itself.

I really don't think this was what Mr Ham et al intended when they decided to embark on this venture.

Everyone really needs to calm themselves down a bit.

He wasn't interested in that bit apparently. He was completely neutral you know.

I really hope this thread doesn’t get pulled.

I have been having a back and forth with the attendee, but to be clear, I’m not calling him racist. I am asking why he wasn’t outraged - a genuine question which I would be asking anyone who attended (and have asked in real life today).

But not observe the actual speeches from the organiser and his guests? Surely you can see how that doesn't really make logical sense?

I attended as I have said so many times as an observer, accompanying a journalist and a retired police officer who was working for an organisation. Being outraged is not compulsory and to be honest I saw pathetic behaviour on both sides. I am too old in the tooth to care about being outraged by these events, as I have seen so many before. To be honest I feel that the world is totally f**ked up at the minute and me being outraged or not outraged is irrelevant. All I really care about is my family and football team.

What do you mean by "an observer"? Who were you observing on behalf of?

I think im inclined to agree with this.

Mr Brentwood reckons they were there as an observer, albeit their choice of language did feel a bit loaded, so I think it's unfair to be calling them a racist without real basis for it.

I also tend to look at a posters history if my spidey senses tingle a bit, and almost all posts have been football related, which reduced the reading on my spidey meter.

I'd also add that I've seen a number of reports from left leaning blue-sky accounts (is there any other type) suggesting that there was a surprisingly diverse crowd there, even if the majority did fit the stereotype.

In itself that disappoints me more, as I simply don't understand why so many would align themselves with an event with clearly racist backers and organisers.

You keep saying who you attended with as some sort of justification. Why were they going? And why did you tag along?

It's not like a retired police officer could possibly be racist
