Town fans in Norwich? 19:01 - Sep 13 with 2604 viewsbugblatter

My son is starting Uni in Norwich and I'm wondering if there are any venues for him to watch Town when they are on Sky (including the derby obviously). Are they any understanding landlords who tolerate Town fans living in enemy territory(!).

When I was at uni back in 2012-or-so, the landlord of the Rose Tavern on Rupert Street was always happy to pop Town on the box.

Not been there since I left uni, so I can't say whether it's the same landlord, same leniency, or even if they still have Sky!

Honestly, he'd be better off hopping on the train to ipswich, watching it here and then heading back. I know he'd have to travel with the Norwich fans but if he wasnt in a shirt he'd be ok. Watching it in ipswich with town fans sounds a lot more fun than watching it in Norwich with city fans

None that i know of. I just don't think those sort of venues exist other than a designated away pub on match days.

I doubt you will find one.
Best he can do is sit quiet and blend into the background.
Or are the games on in the student bars ? You are less likely to find rabid supporters there.

Good point on the SU bar. If they still have Sky, I'm sure they'll be more than willing to show a smorgasbord of games, given the diversity of their clientele.

I know a few people who have been to UEA, and on campus, NCFC are irrelevant as most students are from all over the country, and there’s usually a number of Town fans there.

He’ll be better off watching it on campus, or as previously suggested, coming back down to Ipswich for it.

When I first moved to Norwich, found a nearby pub with a mate I met who was also a town fan to watch the Derby.

It was the one where Counago scored the rebound in the last minute. Tbh, that probably saved us because the whole pub stood up to cheer the miss, so when we cheered the goal we weren’t quite so conspicuous. We left, quickly, very soon after.

It was The Boundary pub, just off Mile Cross 😬

"The Belligerent Goose" in Framingham Pigot is highly recommended for your requirement.

I have watched a few Town games at The Jubilee near the station. It's very much a Norwich supporters pub but pretty chilled out. If you ask and it's on Sky they might put a game on. Regulars will take the piss and support the opposing team of course but as long as you don't get too rowdy or wear a shirt you'd be fine.

The New Entertainer in Gorlestion always has a clutch of shirt wearing Blues on days when we are on. The pub is the runner up in the East Norfolk CAMRA Pub of the Year this year and last.
There is a bus that runs from Gorleston centre to Norwich.

Yep, been up here 30 years, and never had any hassle, just the bantz.

Remember being in the Trowel and Hammer on St Stephens Road by the old hospital (think it's now an Italian restaurant) watching us win 6-0 at Swindon. Admittedly I wasn't exactly a whooping and a hollering as each goal went in just to be on the safe side.

Problem was, also there were the flower stall twins, and they WERE doing that. Fortunately it's well known up here who they support, and so there wasn't really any grief.
