Boro - a threat or not…?! 21:57 - Sep 19 with 3926 views | Portman_Pie | Just a decent run at the start of the season - or do we think they could be long ‘runners’ and a threat?

Boro - a threat or not…?! on 23:06 - Sep 19 by SuperBlue1998 | Looking at the stats from their games I would think they're probably going to have to up their attacking output to challenge for top 2 - they seem to be going a long way on relatively few shots/low XG at the moment. But at the same time they look quite solid If pushed I'd say they look like a playoff challenging team that have had a good run rather than an automatic promotion challenger at this stage, but they could keep it up! |
I was a bit surprised at how much they sat in once they went a goal ahead. They looked like they could continue to push for more but were happy to hit on the break - which worked for them this time around but won't always.

Boro - a threat or not…?! on 08:26 - Sep 20 with 612 views | Pinewoodblue | Too early to predict, with any certainty, top two. By the next international break should be able to identify eight teams likely to finish in top six and tike a stab naming most likely candidates for automatic places.

Boro - a threat or not…?! on 07:15 - Sep 20 by franz_tyson | It's amazing.... we win one game... just one game out of five... and we're instantly at the top of the league. And we're so good, we can even decide who are our nearest competitors. After last week, I'm far more optimistic and I'm really hopeful we can climb the table... but I'm going to wait until we are top two or there or there abouts for a few weeks before we start puffing our chests out as champions elect. That one season in the PL ( where we were sh1t) went to some people's heads. |
Eh? The post merely asks whether Boro have what it takes to sustain their start over the whole season and therefore are a rival to our promotion hopes, nothing more. We are bookies favourites for a reason and after the transfer business we should expect to be in or around the top come the end of the season. It’s not arrogance, it’s basic facts, after the summer and business done anything other than top two should be considered failure, the same way it was for Leeds when we last promoted ahread of them. The questions therefore valid, are Boro in a position to threaten for one of those top places that we are also aiming for, therefore are a threat.
Boro - a threat or not…?! on 10:26 - Sep 20 with 432 views | BloomBlue | Edwards is a good manager, you can see why Ashton sounded him out at the start of last season when it was unclear if McKenna was staying or leaving. I think they will have a good chance of finishing around the playoff places but dont have the strength in squad depth for top2

Was actually only 45 decent minutes as first half though we were 1 up Blunts looked the better team to me.

Huh? What is 'a threat' mean? It's bloody obvious. It means can Boro sustain their form at the top and be a automatic promotion rival to US. Yet.... we've won just once. Haven't had back to back victories for 16 months( I think). Yes, it is arrogance. Why not wait until we deserve the opportunity to call ourselves title-challengers. Earn the right. We used to laugh at clubs like Leeds who thought they were better than us and looked down at others. How about we don't become them. Let's earn the right first. [Post edited 20 Sep 11:08]

Going by your thoughts then , are they playing like the Luton that got them promoted, from memory very much lump it forward into the box and get bodies in , or has Edwards changed his style ? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

See your perspective but I don't view it as arrogance personally. We could do a Man Utd this season - vast expenditure and nothing to show for it - if that happens, performance and results will be assessed in the context of our large financial advantage over most of the league. We won't be judged in the same generous light as the majority in the division. Normal expectation is for us to challenge near the top, as did Leeds while we laughed at them. I can't remember the last club which spent close to our levels and failed to mount a promotion challenge.
Boro - a threat or not…?! on 12:31 - Sep 20 with 142 views | Churchman | They look solid and well organised. I think they’ll challenge and top six looks possible for them. But it’s way too early to jump to conclusions and that includes ourselves. About the only certainty is that Wednesday have a fight to stay up on their hands.
