Not that I remember it at all. Those following years with the 3 Pauls dragged badly, to me that feels a long time ago football wise if i'm honest.

Yep, MM changed the whole side, I remember the whole concourse being shocked at our starting 11. Luke Chambers never forgave MM for that.

Josh Yorwerth has played at Old Trafford and Luke Chambers hasn't. Make it make sense. Absolute shocker from Mick. We changed our whole team so we could draw at home to Bristol City a few days later.

There’s a case to be made that this game - or the 5-1 defeat at Reading a week or so earlier, started the clock ticking on Mick’s reign. It was a long drawn out saga, and he battled the dying of the light for well over 2 and a half years, but from here on, fun seemed to be in short supply.

Absolutely. He didn’t make many friends with his selection. It’s common to rotate for that cup of course, but it felt like some of his most loyal players had been denied a once in a career opportunity to play at OT. And also signalled that we’d given up before a ball was kicked. I know we shouldn’t have put sentiment first, but there was so little going well it felt like an opportunity missed to boost the mood.

I remember having a drunken conversation with him in a bar in town & he was telling me how much Mick loved him & that he was going to be in the team in a few months time etc etc Literally the next week he was released. What a helmet.

The McCarthy era definitely peaked in December 2014.

Struggling to get my head round how this was was ten years ago… on 10:56 - Sep 24 with 337 views | jasondozzell | Stuff like this didn't help Mick. Old Trafford and we played a second team. He was needlessly antagonistic towards supporters. All that stuff over 'the more you call for Celina, the less likely I'll put him on' etc. Why couldn't he have been honest and said 'look, we've got no money, I've got to play this style to keep us competitive, I understand the frustration but...' That said, I don't think any other manager could have saved us when he came in on Nov 2012. He sorted us out and made it easy for the players. 14/15 was fun but as someone noted above, we ran out of steam by Jan. Were never going to win play offs. When Tommy equalised against scum though when down to 10 men.... [Post edited 24 Sep 10:59]

I remember seeing him play for Merthyr on loan before he was banned. Looked decent at that level. As posters have said - silly boy
