1) should always be crunchy PB, smooth is too reminiscent of baby’s nappies.

Porridge made with oats, water and salt, with a small amount of milk on top once cooked, was the rather spartan way my Scottish parents made it. To make it a bit more appealing, I was permitted to sprinkle a bit of sugar on top. | | | |

Years ago on extended holiday in the USA my wife got hooked on “Goobers” peanut butter and jelly as they called it.
So much so she insisted on buying two huge jars of the stuff. Went into the suitcase, no problem with the overall weight allowance but the case was pretty heavy!
At the airport they insisted I buy an additional case, no problem with the total weight but not all in one case.
Have you any idea how much it costs to buy suitcases at an airport?
This must have been over 40 years ago and it still hurts.

I am about to take your breakfast to a whole new level...
Make porridge with your choice of milk.
Add a tablespoon of good quality peanut butter. I like crunchy rather than smooth, but that is up to you.
Stir in well.
Remove from heat.
Spoon into bowl.
Drizzle Maple Syrup.
(Can be pimped with either fresh Blueberries or Raspberries. An alternative is to lightly warm through some halved Strawberries with a sprinkling of cinnamon.)
Imagine Nigella's face while she eats that!

Most of the own-brand 100% peanut ones are ok (and a lot cheaper). Just found WE had a slightly more bitter taste to me.
Many years ago I worked for a while in a health food shop. They had a peanut butter machine, grinding it up fresh from whole nuts (no added ingredients, using the natural oil). Now that was nice stuff.
