In his criticism of Farage and Reform

A ‘snake oil salesman’ really? Whether he thinks it or not should he be saying it???

He is entering Donald Trump territory. At one point I thought he was going to say ‘Farage is a horrible, horrible, horrible Man.

I was always taught when selling something don’t criticise the opposition too much as it can look make you look a bit unprofessional

Farage is a lying PoS, a completely uninterested MP, and a traitor to this country. I’m generally in favour of taking the personal out of politics and having people disagree on policies but still be civil but as one of the key architects of the sh1t show that is global politics currently he deserves everything he gets.

I keep saying I would not vote reform but I certainly wouldn’t back Labour either.

Reform go too far when it comes to immigration and there plans for it but the problem is Labour just haven’t got to grips with it as promised

Labour do not like people with aspirations who want to provide for their families and have the best life they can.

Come the budget they will make further changes that will penalise the aspirational further

It’s hard to know what you think the problem is when you’re so vague. What haven’t they got to grips with on immigration? Or let’s turn that around: what does ‘to get to grips with’ mean to you? What do you want to see happen?

“People with aspirations”. “People like me”. That’s no help either what particular aspirations do you have that they are blocking? What needs to change to help you meet your aspirations?

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

I think onceablue has a business and pines for the Tories because he has an outdated view that the Tories are good for business. He doesn't care about their indiscrestions, or their treatment of certain secrions of society, just that things were better for him and his business under Thatch.

That's my guess.

Going back to the OP, and leaving aside the fact that I am not convinced attacks on Farage cut through with his supporters, the use of the term "snake oil salesman" is a curious one given it is not necessarily currently a widely-known phrase in this country.

Indeed, I had to look up precisely what it meant and its origins.

It also strikes me as being a phrase that cuts through more with opponents of Farage than with supporters.

But of course, there was an element with this conference of Labour having to take a stance in order to attempt to shore up its own support.

I thought it was a pretty well-known phrase.

I do too, but I see it as more appropriate to a United States audience. Perhaps that is who it is, in part, aimed at - as a message to Trump and his circle that they are weak on health and his recent visit to these islands was not a success in convincing us to follow the current administration across the Atlantic. Hence the tantrum at the United Nations, the sudden lurch into getting Netanyahu to put forward a 'peace plan' and decry nations that acknowledged Palestinian statehood. But is quite Nineteenth century, which I suppose is pretty much where Farage's insurance based healthcare rests.

"It's unprofessional to be honest in politics" is what I got from your post. Which is just about on point with any Reform/Farage supporter.

Define who the people with aspirations who you believe they are looking to punish?

"People with aspirations" usually means people on £40k a year who desperately want to stick up for millionaires and billionaires because they think they'll be one in the future, despite the fact they're full-time employed and with no plans to do anything other than get promoted to middle-management.

“ Farage is a lying PoS, a completely uninterested MP, and a traitor to this country”

This sums up a vast majority of politicians from all parties. Only in it for their own gains.

That's just an attempt to "poison the well" and stop the debate.

Give some examples of how the majority of politicians are like Farage. You should be able to easily provide examples of loads of politicians lying as frequently as him whilst also being able to show them not turning up to carry out their responsibilities as a MP.

There should be some examples of other politicians coming up with racist policies as well.

Says the chap who thinks calling Farage a snake oil salesman is going too far.

Farage is much worse than a snake oil salesman. He’s a traitor.
